New Sea Ray Video for 190 Sport Lovers!

Very nice!
My boat is the one in the middle, but does not have the red gelcoat on the hull.
I sure would have liked to have had that red gelcoat as well, but I just keep reminding myself mine had everything else I wanted and I got a really good deal on it.

C'mon boating season! It was fun pulling it in the driveway yesterday and getting in there fidgeting around, but so sad to cover it back up and put it away again.
This new boat needs water!!

I hear you. I did my waterproofing project last weekend. Did all the canvas and got a few more things ready. SOON!

Between a sick pooch and a quarterly "weekend manager on duty" rotation, it will have been three weeks since I've been able to make the 165 mile trek up to my boat by the time Saturday rolls around. You guys are lucky your boats are riht under your nose. :) And Don, you will love the boat even more once you get it out on the water! Noticed your speakers and stereo remote in a photo, very nice! Who makes the speakers? I tried to upgrade mine, and had trouble finding ones which fit those cutouts...

After my loan was processed and I had not picked up the boat yet, I made a deal with the dealer and paid him outright, to pull the stock Sony radio and speakers out, and install a Sony Bluetooth/USB/CD radio, Roswell Amplifier, and Kicker speakers. Sounds so much better than what came with the boat - that is one of the few things I have been able to do, pull the boat in the drive - uncover it - turn on the stereo and jam while I am fidgeting with the boat LOL.
I am not sure, but think they may have had to enlarge those speaker holes a little for these Kickers.

Three weeks without getting to see/touch your new boat? Yikes! But sounds like you have a mighty nice place to go hang out and boat though!

Pictures of the new stereo components Don, pictures!

#shakesfist

LOL

Yes, the reservoir I boat at is on the western side of the Tahoe National Forest and I love the setting. A bit of a drive, but I'm okay with that...

:)

Lol pics will have to wait now till I pull it up and uncover again.

Love the new Sea Ray video for the 190. That does get you fired up for the season....I'm pick up the boat from storage with the dealer on 18th. Quick two hour tow to the middle Chesapeake to drop it in.

That is sweet display at the boat show. Notice the hanging banner behind the display. That's my 190 version. The 2013 red/white paint scheme.

Hey Darren,

Nice pics of your boat on your link!

So, as a freshwater boater I'm curious...

Do you keep your 190 slipped in saltwater all season?

I just landed a slip at my marina, but was only planning on using it on weekends...or extended stays at the lake.

(On busy weekends there's no guarantee one can get an overnight tie-up)

I think I was the first viewer.

They must have just reposted old videos or edited them or something. Here is a 205 video that also says its new.

Funny. I spent a couple hours last night on youtube watching videos on the smaller Sea Rays. I was trying to figure out the differences. Did you guys watch the one on the 350SLX? Holy bow rider! If thats what you want to call it. I really like what they've done with the 190s. A lot more plush and usability built into them. If they hold up as well as mine has then you guys have some great boats (but you already knew that, right?).

On a side note I, along with everyone else, can't wait to get mine out. I think this is going to be my maintence weekend. Supposed to be nice and I've got lots of fluids and an impeller to change. Keep the pics coming!

Edit: Forgot to mention I think I'm in love with the 230SLX.

Tell me about it! I keep looking at the extended forecast trying to figure out
if we will have any more freezes. I am so ready!

Hey Glenn,

I do keep the boat in the slip all season long. It's just so much easier then dropping it in and out. We'll often boat during the day and then in the evening come back to the dock and have drinks and appetizers on the boat while still tied in the slip. We're lucky enough to have a nice view from our slip.

We obviously had the bottom painted. I got that for free when I purchased the boat. We knew we were going to keep it in the water. I also only got a single axel trailer because I was only towing it twice a year.

Two biggest issues. 1). The engine will not come out of the water in the slip. The prop will be in the water even with a full trim up. We get a lot of sea grass on the prop during the week when we aren't using the boat. Barnacles also get on the engine and prop. The stuff does come off once underway. A few hard turns in either direction cleans off the bottom, once underway. Just need to be sure your intakes are clear before start up. I never had them clogged, but I always checked.

One thing I will do this year, that I didn't do last year, is actually have the boat lifted out and power washed off in the middle of season. Just get it good and clean. We won't re-paint mid year, just clean it off really good.

The second item, at least for the 190 Sport, is the ski. It won't fully drain. The drain hole is a quarter inch above the base of the ski locker to prevent things from get flushing into the bilge, but as the boat rocks back and further in the slip, bilge water drains back into the ski locker. Never had it totally dry all last year. A little bit of mess in there to be honest. We left lift jackets in there by mistake and they were ruined because they sat in a few inches of water for a week.

It hurts the soul a little to see the stains on the side of boat over the months as well.....

I'm still learn about how to best protect the boat. I doubt many 190 Sports are kept in a slip all season. I'm actually going to post a question under a different topic about spraying the engine with corrosion block that I see people use on outboards.

Next boat 100% will be an outboard because we keep it in a slip, but then again the four or five Sea Ray Sundancers in our marina aren't getting their engine out of the water...

Long post. Hope this was the type of information you were looking for.

Hey Darren,

Thanks for providing the insight about slipping your 190 all season. There is no such thing as TMI when it comes to things like this!

I grew up with a Boston Whaler, which my Dad would keep berthed in a fresh water lake all summer. We never had issues with the engine, with it being trimmed up. But man, that end-of-summer cleaning was a (pregnant dog in heat). Since the boat had a white gelcoat, he'd have me under that boat (on the driveway at home) scrubbing with a stiff brush and some pretty harsh cleaners. Looking back, that probably wasn't smart!

Some of my friends know about my getting a slip this season, and are scratching their heads as to why (at this point) I don't plan on keeping the boat in the water all summer. Just weekends we are boating, meaning every weekend. Ahhhhh...black hull and no interest in the all the elbow grease to clean it - witthout beating up the gelcoat! Also, I really like drying my boat out during the week and my storage unit is just a few miles from the marina so it all works out. If I lost the storage facility, I'd probably keep it slipped full time.

I have considered getting a slip just for the summer at our main boating lake, but have not been able to come to grips to justify the cost, and then not having the boat right here with me as well... I really like the convenience having it here available to me at all times. Main reason I was considering , is the craziness at the ramp - it got really crowded last year and a lot of folks that really have no clue on proper etiquette one should use at a ramp.

Oftentimes we would get to the ramp and not have any parking available for the truck and trailer. Then, toward the end of the season last year, at the end of the day we got back to the ramp, and there was a really nice truck/trailer parked and as I was walking by it to go retrieve my truck/trailer, noticed it's windshield was all smashed out with glass all over the ground - obviously someone had busted into it for whatever reason, and I hated it for that boater that was obviously still on the lake and would be coming back to discover that...

I hear you Don, and also wish my boat was nearby...but considering I'm 165 miles from it during the week must rely on the inner tube (web) to scratch the boat itch when we're not up here. :)

Thank you for the video link, watched that one twice myself. The green gel coat is striking, I like it more than my yellow.

Hey ARW!

Did you see the (new?) yellow color for the Europe market boats in the Dusseldorf pic?

Maybe it'll be a 2015 color, and ... you'll probably love it just as much!

And welcome to CSR and the thread... :)
