New Sea Ray 340 Owner Charleston

My boat club (Carolina Boaters) has a few members in Charleston, and we meet up a few times a year to do ICW trips North and South. As well as anchor out and overnight raft ups. We tend to gather at Rivers Edge marina. Sounds like we need to do another CSR rendezvous Charleston!

Sounds great it would be fun to explore the ICW with a group. Let me know when you pick dates!

Mike, you know I'm always up for a Charleston ICW trip whenever possible. Oh yeah, welcome Alchemist! We do usually have a group that tries to meet up several times each summer; usually a half dozen or so boats at a time show up depending on work schedules. Looking forward to meeting you one of those times.

Actually you can find us on facebook as Carolina Boaters......I couldn't begin to tell you how to find the group on FB. I just tried and couldn't find it.
A member here, Sadler is the admin for the club. He maybe able to help you....if you were interested.

I hope I'm not breaking any rules here admin. I'll also post up the get togethers here in the Carolinas section to be fair.

Don't put hose connection on you RW intake to your generator, then put 60 psi water pressure without the genny running... That was my $10K mistake (hydrolocked the gennerator)... Change your exhaust system with OEM mercruiser cast iron... Change you RW impellers ASAP and keep a spare on board...

Rod has left the confessional. Say 10 Our Fathers and 6 Hail Marys ;-)

If you're in the Charleston area, and if you're really into using your boat, not just cleaning it and hanging at the dock, please check out the Carolina Boaters. We are an active group and as Mike says, we are almost always planning or having a cruise together. We mostly anchor out, but we also do marina and beach gatherings as well. We are very informal, and if you're new to boating in the Cton area, we can show you some nice anchor spots. There is also some very good technical knowledge in our group for cruiser repair and maintenance. We are on Facebook, not because many of us are Facebook junkies, but because Facebook does a better job at supporting groups than Yahoo does. (We used to be on Yahoo.) If you find us on Facebook, just ask to join and message me with a sentence or two describing your boating background. We do this because we get a lot of fake join requests. We currently have about 77 members. If you can't find us on Facebook, message me here, and I'll send a link to our activity calendar.

Sadler, Thanks I am definitely planning to use the boat. I am going to move it in two weeks to City Boat Yard to have it hauled and bottom painted, inspected and hopefully install a descent chart plotter. I will have it back in the water in early January and be at Ashley Marina H-16. I am putting in the chart plotter because the previous owner didn't use her much and stayed on his dock or maybe cruised the harbor. I plan to do much more and the ICW and other areas around Charleston seem to be quite appropriate for a good plotter to help. (Anyone with suggestions please enter them here). I was thinking a Raymarine C series but am open to suggestions.

Carl

Carl, I'm not up on current plotters, so I can't help you much there. But when you've got her fixed up and ready to cruise, give us a yell on CB'ers. I go right by your slip on the way out each time, so it'll be easy to join up for a cruise. Looking forward to it.

Sadler
