Was in Ft Laudeedale for the past couple of days to see my son on his 21st bday - My 18 yr old joined us too so it was the three amigos, so a little boating was on the agenda! Saturday was a beautiful morning with light winds out of the west - so we headed out PE inlet and buzzed down to stiltsville and on to elliot key - we started back a little late on the inside and got caught at about haulover in the forecasted afternoon deluge.....talk about amature hour with the boats scattering like roaches!

Today we took it easy and did someting we talked about in the past - after stopping to see some friends at Bahia Mar, we headed up the New River - by late afternoon, after a stop at a public dock for a sunday music fest and get a frozen lemonade, we were up past the "marina mile". my youngest reminded me of the again forcasted rain and encouraged me to find a shorter way home...I knew there was a "cut through" to the Dania canal where our dry stack is, but my info was old and involved a series of pvc pipes as markers......to my delight, as i cautiously entered the cut, there were new official day markers! we then entered a long mangrove lined cut that, as advertised, took us to our destination - we got back to our marina in time to clean up the boat and head to dinner - im now at the airport waiting to fly Back to MA.....A great time with my 2 sons! sorry for no pics - my wife was not with us, and she's the photograper, just wanted to share a great couple of days with my csr friends

That sounds like an awesome time Mike! Thanks for sharing! (PS- Pics really would've been nice! Lol)

Lol… done that fun ride many times in my dingy. Once went through the pipes and into the jungle when all of the sudden here comes a 50 footer… tight fit…. Next time honk when you pass by Davie blvd bridge. I was there all day prepping for my trip to the Bahamas next week.

I knew you were around there somewhere - will definately give you a shout next time by - I was really tempted to cross to bimini on saturday, but both my son's passports are expired and not sure on how long the health visa's take anyway - i really do miss not having a cabin, makes the logisics of even a quick overnight trip to the keys much tougher when you need to think about where you'll sleep - its been great living vicariously through you with your Bahamas adventures this year - i likely won't be back in town until the boat show.....by the way, when did they install those new daymarkers in that cut?

Yea I actually saw them replacing them from the air about a year ago. I was landing at FLL and there were barges back there installing them. It is a little tricky getting through that "S" turn as it is carved out of limestore so don't get off course that for sure. I still can't believe what size boats go through there on a regular basis. When you go down the Dania cut side and see some big ones on the west side of 95 that is the only way in....
