Looking to Join the Sea Ray family with the purchase of a 220 or 240 SunDeck. Have eyed up an '05 240 Sundeck with approx: 130 hrs in Wisconsin with a 350 Mag MBIII. The add states the boat has "white bottom paint", is this out of the ordinary for an '05? and something I should be concerned about?

Boat details: TBD.

Quite a few 220 & 240SD are going to be trailer boats so no bottom paint. Are you planing on leaving it in the water all the time or are you going to trailer it. If you are going to trailer it you don't need the bottom paint. I leave my boat in the water year round with out bottom paint, but it is on a clean fresh water lake so that makes a big difference. I pressure wash it as needed when I trailer it.

Yes, I will be trailoring it, and keeping it in NE Wisconsin, so it will be used in fresh water lakes and rivers.

So the mention of the painted bottom on a newer boat doesn't raise the flag to damage?

Thanks, that eases my mind quite a bit.

If you don't mind answering another question I have regarding good estimates on price. I've looked at some other theads, and looks like the NADA is what most people recommend. Have you heard that is a good source? I ask as there seems to be a considerable difference between what the NADA is quoting and the dealer.

I find that NADA is over-priced. Dealers are way over-priced. Go to Yacht World dot com and do an advanced search. Check for the boat you are interested in in your area. As a guess, most will accept about 5 - 10,000 less than the listed price, depending on how anxious they are to sell. At least you can get an idea of what people in your area are valuing similar boats at.

Paint or no Paint make SURE you get a very good Surey done of the boat and the engine and especially that BIII outdrive.

Thanks, I will definetly be doing that. Also, thanks for the Yacht World link. I may be making a trip to Ohio now.

Finding this web site has been great.
