Check this out... Yes, it's a real product and it actually looks like it would work to virtually eliminate nasty odours! That would be especially welcome in a boat's relatively cramped quarters. Not sure if it would damage internal parts but the ingredients are probably scented oils since they float on the surface.

Not a good thing to use when you have a holding tank. The good bacteria in a holding tank require oxygen to do their job and a layer of oil on top of the liquid would prevent this.
