So I had a 6 round to 4 flat adpater for my old boat and dealer told me I would need a 5 flat since it has disk brakes.......I buy a 7 round to 5 flat adapter and as soon as I put the truck in gear the fuse blows for my guages on the dash.......Wierd!

Never had this problem with the 6 to 4 adapter!

looks like adapter is not compatible with your truck
better use your old adapter 6->4 and run additional 5th wire
this 5th wire needs to be connected to reverse light "+' side
it prevent breaks from locking when you backing-up

I had a similar problem. I found that when I folded the tounge in it disconected/pulled the wires in the trailer frame. I just needed to pull a little more out of the trailer and the problem hasnt come back. When you fold the tounge you can see that each wire has a quick disconect...as I remember it being a few inches inside the frame when it was unfolded.

Hope this makes sense...

Makes perfect sense....I'll have to check out everything today.
I'll check back with my progress.
Thanks guys

:smt001Update....Well after numerous hours and asking friends at work someone finally verified that my truck was set up the way it is supposed to be accoring to the adpater and also verified the adapter was putting the votlage to the right pins.....:smt038 Everything is good.

He then explained how to use his multimeter and check ohms on the pins.....Everythign read 1.3-1.4 omhs until I got to the solenoid pin whic read something like 0.02....I found the culprit :wow:
I then had to take apart the tongue to get to the solenoid..not bad. When I got the toungue apart I found the problem....The solenoid had flattened a 2' section of the wire so bad that the sheathing split and the wires were exposed which I now learned was causing the blown fuse since it was grounding on the trailer frame.

Needless to say I have fixed it and I am hitting the water tomorrow. Thanks for your help guys:thumbsup:
