New (or Updated) 2015 Sport Boats?

Hey Dennis!

Just for the record, I meant DIG DIG DIG for *pictures*...not that you were taking (or making) a dig at Chapparral!

:)

Gotcha - thank you. Although you're doing a pretty darn good job yourself of 'digging up' pictures!

I suspect that what's picture here (shown at Cannes?) is fully loaded as far as option packages and available upgrades (sans wake or ski/fish). The other pictures I've seen didn't have as much stainless (i.e. rub strip, handles) and less/smaller backrests in the bow and bench seats. But from what I've read, these boats will be really customizable, not everybody wants or needs the same thing.

I reallly like the interior vinyl colors, but wouldn't be surprised if that's a Europe market color only. I see that used in some of the models offered over there (the Sun Sports and Overnighters), but never here in the U.S.

Thanks for the clarification Lazy Daze. I stand corrected.

No worries, and I hope what I wrote didn't come off as gruff or something - It wasn't meant that way. It also wasn't directed specifically at you - more of just a general statement. I understand that not everyone compares one brand to another as closely as I might... although some probably do a better job!

I'm curious of the engine options. Specifically the 19SPX.
Wondering if these will be the choices.
3.0L 4 banger
4.3L V6 TKS and 4.3L V6 MPI (While supplies last)
4.5L 250 HP V6 (New from Mercuiser)

The SPX is just a new designation for the "SP" (Sport). It will not be competing with the H2O - the H2O competes more with the Bayliner brand. I'll see if I can dig up some other pics of the new models.

Just to clarify, SPX is not just a new designation for Sport. It's a completely new line of boats, meant to better complement the SLX (in both name and design). You can almost fit the 190 Sport inside the 19 SPX.

And the price is going to blow people away.

Yes, same options as the 190 Sport (It's a bit of semantics saying it's not a "Sport", isn't it?). The 3.0L has been an MPI now, though, because of the catalyst requirement. I'm not sure when/if the 4.5L will become available - I haven't been given any of that info, yet.

I am looking forward to seeing one of those 4.5L in person, though!

I'm not sure if I look forward to new models more or less than you guys do! For me, it's kinda like Christmas - the boats come in all wrapped up nice and tidy... then we get to unwrap them and play with them! Not a bad job to have, not bad at all.

Still waiting for a Northern California Sea Ray dealer who sells Sport Boats...

(That inventories more than a *single* 2013 190 Sport...)

Sigh.

I'm really intrigued by the outboards. Have a '66 Whaler with a (newer) Evenrude 115 E-Tec, very easy and nice to completely trim up/out of the water...

Like how the swim platforms on the 19 and 270 are integrated...I think that's why I like these so much.

The IB 19 looks like it just has the comfort package - bimini, carpets. Would really like to see one with Elevation (wake) and Select (luxury fittings) packages!

I wonder what the top end on that 270 OB is. Are they just offering the one engine option for the OB?

Not sure I really like this new model, to me there is allot of waste towards the back end, the widening is wasted with the step area, should have a moveable seat there for a walk through. A little too boxy looking for me, I think it has a European flair to it and maybe that who it is geared towards. I will be curious about the pricing, my guess is lower than 190 until you make it a boat that you really want. That boat would be a dog with a 3.0 in it and you are looking at an automatic 5k for next size motor. Be neat to see in person this winter at boat show and talk to sales guys and see what the publics opinion is of it. I am no means a trend setter so this thing could sell like hot cakes

I think your observation about the 19's rear bench not being as wide due to the walk-thru is definitely valid...

Now with that being said, it also seems that a transom walk-thru's and flexible starboard seating is where the market seems to be going in 21 and unders. I think of the Regal 1900 ES, the Cobalt 200 and 220, and the Yamaha Jet Boats.

Would love to see these in person, and in regards to the height of the transom step into the back of the boat - I'm wondering if it extends forward that far to accomodate ease of getting skis or wakeboards in and out of that transom stoarge space? I know some of the SunDecks have presented that space as wakeboard storage in past models.

As far as performance, the hull appears very different from the 185/190. Same 19 degree vee, but an extended running surface beyond the outdrive, and more lifting strakes/chines.

It does offer allot of flexibility especially if you had a full boat of people, with 8 (which is the limit anyway) it is kind of crowded and awkward to get around on the 190, if I guy has that flexible seating it would make a difference. To me boats are kind of hard to visualize, I need to see it and sit in it to really get a feel for it. Not worth trading in for it though. Hopefully it adds value to my boat for people looking for more traditional styling and we'll see what pricing does. I've been told every year I can sell for about what I paid for it by the dealer, but you never really know until you try and I didn't buy it just to sell it.

Looks like SeaRay forgot to include an anchor locker up front just like they did in the previous 185S models, unless its under the seat which still isn't the most ideal spot. For a boater that uses an anchor oftern, removing the seat cushion and trying to get an anchor out w/o scratching the gel coat is such a pain when a simple drop in anchor locker is so much more convenient.

You know, I had a 2010 185 (4.3 TKS) and definitely felt the pain on that issue. If I recall correctly, there wasn't under-cushion storage in the front center - and so you use one of the side seats? My 2012 190 had a center cushion storage in the bow, and I used that...but you're right, it wasn't the easiest or least clumsey set up. I guess that's a challenge with boats which have a shorter LOA - choosing what to that bow space for. More room for passengers, or practical storage for something like the anchor.

Well it certainly looks interesting and I am sure there will be a lot of folks very interested in the change, as for me - well, I am glad I have my Sport 190, based on what I am seeing I think I would pick it over the new offering, if there was a choice between the two...

Well, it appears as though the "boxier" styling along with the "square" windshield design will be the design theme for future models. It's certainly a great way to get more space out of a given LOA. Personally, I prefer the sleek lines and tapered bow of the 230/250/270/300 SLX models. The 270 Sundeck looks like a tug boat in comparison. Even older Sundecks look much sleeker than the 270SD. However, I am certain the SR has done their research and has found that the boxier styling is preferred by today's target market. As others have said, I do like OB option. The Verado is whisper quiet and amazingly smooth.
