It's pretty funny to watch boaters toss their anchors thinking they are going to better their anchoring ability.

I wonder how many shoulders are injured during the summer boating months.

I almost want to have a dry erase board so I can give them a score after the toss for technique.

:D

Not knocking pontoon boats, but they seem to do this the most - guy goes out front and pulls the mushroom anchor out, and hurls the anchor with 50 or so feet of line, only it's all tangled up so the anchor doesn't even get to the bottom. Reel it in and repeat. Funniest I ever saw was at a sandbar I goto - really a shallow shoal area in the middle of a big cove - two shoal markers about 100ft apart marking it. Guy pulls up does the anchor toss 4 or 5 times without success - wife says, "just tie up to that pole dummy!" So he ties up to the shoal marker - problem solved!

From my observation, the cinder bock anchor seems to be the hardest to set!

How about the ones who forget it needs to be fastened to the boat?

Saw that one a few years ago. Captain gave the order for the Admiral to throw out the anchor and she executed the command flawlessly. The anchor was never to be seen again. :)
