Just an observation and not knocking it but seems like a lot of B-liner and other manufacturer boat owners are posting on CSR lately.

I think it’s great that we have a site that everyone wants to be a part of. Can anyone tell me what we have that other sites don't? I know that the caliber of knowledge is very high here. It that the only reason?

Do you see a problem with multiple manufacturer owners “watering down” the site?

Just asking and no condemnation of new members……..yet.

I think one of the big factors is the activity we have on this site. The other sites I have visited do not have the daily post count like we have.

As far as owners with other manufactures watering down... I don't know.

I own two classic Glastron Carlsons and a Sea Ray. I would have not looked for this site if I didn't own or was shopping for a Sea Ray. I use to only post at Classic Glastron.com and was VP there for about 5 years. Then I went to a performance boat site called fastboats.com that became speedwake. I did some videos for the owner and had some fun there also. That site was driving me to buy a Formula 272 with twins. When we started shopping cruisers, we searched the net for a Sea Ray Forum and came here. I didn't post until I bought a Sea Ray but still lurked a bit. Brand specific forums do have a purpose to build a common interest we have of company boat offerings and history. People looking to buy a Sea Ray will have questions we can answer. I really would not read posts of "how nice my B-boat is and why I didn't buy a Sea Ray" or "how do I restore my sailboat and what sail shoud I buy"? I do like seeing nice examples of all classic boats and their owners could have a lot of knowledge to share. Boaters are boaters and I enjoy talking boats, Mike.

Activity doesn't mean as much as the knowledge base.

CSR has a large knowledge base because of the number of active serious boaters with in-depth knowledge we have here. Besides, some of us have been boating since dirt was invented.

I must agree with with all the comment so far. The fact that the site holds so much great info draws a lot of folks. Much of the information such as trailering and general topics span many owners needs.

I believe it’s the general knowledge and the incredible amount of information one can find here. But it’s also the friendly way of sharing opinions.
You can always find an answer here and everybody is ready to share his experiences. Moreover you can have a good laugh sometimes.

The fact that sometimes some moron chimes in and then he leaves in a short time means a lot. This is not the environment for the short minded.

So, CSR is just cool!
(once more, it would be great to meet you all sometimes!)

I don't mind if non-Sea Ray owners participate. Maybe they will learn enough to get a Sea Ray next time! :smt043

I think that there are positives and negatives to all boats and we all know that Sea Ray has it's faults. I enjoy the non-boating posts as well. If you are on here long enough you start to figure out who knows there stuff and who doesn't. And that dang Iphone app has me checking this thing all day long- my wife can't wait for the ice to break- she thinks then I will return to normal

I have not spent much time on other sites but based on that, I'm thinking that the format here is superior. I'm sure the other sites have their "technical contributors" and "older than dirt" boaters, but I'd put our guys up against any other group.

If they do I haven't found it. This is a special island of the internet. Other brands only wish they had this kind of information and depth of knowledge. You could go to HTC where they all bash SR, so thanks to all who contribute here. MM

+1:thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:

Something else unique about Sea Ray boats and owners is the diversity from 16ft to mega cruisers. There is a day and night difference between the two and the knowledge to maintain them. I never owned a diesel boat but do enjoy reading about them and the care they require vs. gas. The same with V-drive vs. Outdrive vs. Inboard vs. Outboard. Lots of info to expand on the water knowledge. I still chuckle when people think I'm rich because I own a Sea Ray....that's a yacht isn't it? It's fun not having a capacity plate....please pass the Grey Poupon, Mike.

I like this site alot
alot of excellent info here for me as a new SR owner
but I have been boating for 30 years now starting with a Monarch stick-steer trihull when I was 16.
honestly it seems to be like alot of other specialty sites in the respect of a low post count or recent join date makes you lack credibility in your posting.
some memebers should be a bit nicer and show a little understanding with "newbie" questions.
I have a fairly thick skin so it really doesn't bother me but....
IMO ....some legit questions go unanswered.

Hehe... 2 years ago, I was at a wedding reception and they had these tiny little plastic bottles of Grey Poupon on the tables. Naturally, I took one home and then stowed it in the chart box under the throttle on the boat. Some of my friends were on board, and saw that "yacht certified" plaque next to the captain's chair. One of them looked at me and said, "This is considered a yacht?". I just smiled, opened the chart box, tossed him the Grey Poupon, and said, "You bet you ascot it is." while giving him the snottiest look I could.

I've checked out a few of the other brand boards that I ran across while looking for boat stuff on Google. I noticed that CSR folks just seem to spend a lot less time bitching about our boats. We just seem to be a happier bunch.
