Boat Info
268
Engines
Twin, 4.3 V6
I have no clue if I am doing this right. Been a Sea Ray owner since 1995 but have never posted to a site like this so here it goes.

Current boat 1988 268, twin V6. I am training my 11 year old son to work on it because he is the only one that can fit in the engine compartment.

Anyway, thanks all for the inspiration and the information.

Hope this works, but I am trying to upload a photo of my boat.

That's funny, I sent my 10-yr old girl in to get the serial numbers off the engines:thumbsup:

Nice 268 Lake Inn. Whats she got for power? Pair of 6 poppers?

Welcome! What a beauty! Looking at the props, I just noticed yours are the same and you have torque tabs. I thought the had to be right hand or left hand:huh:

I guess that's just how they did the outdrives in those days. The twin V-6's do good and will get me up to 38 mph on Lake Powell. You really need a skinny friend to help you work on them though (not kidding). We'll be on Powell starting 5/5 for a week of fishing and exploring. I will be installing a high thrust kicker and bracket which should save a little fuel while trolling. Stainless steel is really expensive!!

Good looking rig!

Welcome to CSR!

Hello Western Colorado , Your right close to my old stopping grounds. Nice Boat.

Hey, Just Me, it was your boat pic's that inspired me to join. Figured we may trade notes someday. We don't have any real boaters out here, you know the kind that clean the bilge with their tongue and wash the deck with new white towel after every use. I could tell by looking at a lot of the boats here that there is some real pride of ownership in this forum (i.e. real boaters with good knowledge). Beside we all love Searay's... what more do you need?

......Well i'm glad you joined , so i sea you like Powell , how long have you been going down there ? Your real close to Blue Mesa also , did a little fishing there many years ago , But powell is my favorite place of all , post pics of it if ya got any . So Happy Birthday and again NICE BOAT!

Whats the history on your 268 , where did you find such a nice boat ?

I found the boat up in Salt Lake area a couple of years ago. It had 425 hours and was well cared for by two owners. I bought it specifically for Powell, but we hit Blue Mesa now and then. Looks like my Powell trip will interfere with the height of the Mackinaw season on Blue Mesa. I just missed having a boat, having owned a Sea Ray (250 i think) on Lake Roosevelt in Washington and a Tolleycraft Sedan in SE Alaska. I also missed the toil and joy of ownership. This gives me something to do as the winter winds down. Nothing like dumping money into a hole in the water, what a joy! I really like the 268 layout, though the beam is a little shy, it is as big as I want to tug with my Dodge diesel. The Classic 268 and her whole family really are attractive boats and have that older build quality that gives you the right feel.

Many happy days with full coolers and few scary days too. It wouldn't be boating otherwise.

What's the top speed and cruising speed on yours? Any particular problems you have had? Fuel consumption? I am guessing about a mile per gallon.
