question: anyone know the length of the windlass chain / rode that comes with a 290 SLX?

Don't know what yours is in particular, but a friend suggested I pull out all anchor chain and rope. We measured (25' of chain, 200' of rope) and used orange paint every 25' to indicate depth. I am fairly new at this and the marks have been a great help.

Travis - thanks and great suggestion. I had it out at Canyon Lake this weekend and attempted to deploy the anchor and was not certain how much was available so will use your technique.

Do you boat at Lake Travis?

The water levels are up but now it appears that Canyon is getting flooded due to the rain upstream but not complaining.
