Hi Folks~ We are slipped on the Thames River in New London. We are trying to look for beaches in the area that we can anchor at, and perhaps swim to shore if we wanted to grab a bite to eat. Any suggestions would be helpful. The PO of our boat suggested Sound View. Is anyone familiar with this beach? Thanks in advance. This is a great site and I get a lot of help from some great people.....thanks:smt038

I've anchored a bit off rocky neck to the east. there are some moorings in there and you can anchor in about 5 feet of water. Best best (that I know of) is go west past Mystic to Napatree anchor and cross over a peninsula to a great beach.

Thanks for the suggestions to Napatree. We can then go to one of our favorite restaurants in Stonington - Skipper's Dock....

You can anchor in behind flat hammock by Fishers island too. Also Sandy Point in Stonington before Napatree and try the Dogwatch instead of Skippers
