I bought my wife a Kodak Zx3 HD Waterproof Digital Video Camera, and it really has turned out to be a great little camera.

Here are some pictures of our journey to Port Colborne, ON yesterday. Lake Erie was enjoying a little wind, and the waves were between 2-4 feet, with occasional 5 footers. At 25 mph, it was quite a ride. Sure, I could have slowed down, but we were racing a little rainstorm I could see on the Sirius weather screen on the C80, and wanted to ensure we were docked before it rained on us.

First, some pictures from this little device:

We stayed an extra night because of the storms yesterday and high winds out of the south.

This morning, the sky was clear and the winds were about 15-20 mph from the WSW, meaning the waves would be behind us most of the way home.

I had to go due south out of the harbour in order to get out in to the lake enough to be able to head East and have the waves at a good angle off my stern.

Sure, this is probably baby stuff to you ocean-goers, but Lake Erie can get angry quickly, and I wanted to get home before the wind crept up to the 30 mph it is forecasted to do later today.

Here's a view through the windshield as I took us out into the rolling 4 foot lake swells:

Andrew, the last video is "not available" for some reason.
Looks like you got a "boat wash"
I hope next weekend is better, we want to go to Dover.

It is probably still processing in YouTube. My wife was a bit nervous in the lake today (this is about as nasty as we've ever been out in), but of course the kids took it all in stride - had a ball.

Leaving Sugarloaf the waves always seem much worse than once you get out in the lake, and once you're past Pt Abino eastbound, things settle down a little more. And it seemed like we were flying once we got back under the Peace Bridge. With a SW wind, the stretch from the bridge to Strawberry Island was like glass.

The dinghy fared very well and didn't get bounced around too much, and the boat got a nice fresh water rinse. So did the captain...

Have fun in Port Dover - we're hoping to make that once of our next jaunts.
