New head, confused owner

Just purchased a 2008 250 Select EX with the optional head and holding tank. I am just a bit confused about what to use in the TOP reservoir of the head unit - (for flushing). The instructions are very brief, and say to fill the reservoir with water. I was wondering if water plus the addition of any other chemical would be beneficial rather than just plain water. To prevent confusion I am referring to reservoir used for the actual flushing process, and not the holding tank chemical additive. :smt017

I use waater in the flush tank and add a holding tank deodorant to the waste tank.

In the water tank, put water only.

In the waste tank, add head treatment. When we had a similar set up on the last boat I would add treatment via opening the head and tossing it down the waste hole. Since your tank is right there, you may find odor is noticeable. We tried various treatments. We found the green liquid to be a poor choice. The blue liquid or blue powder packs were the best.

I think, from your description, you are describing a vacu-flush system. The reason I ask is I thought all vacu-flush toilets were hooked to the boats freshwater system for flushing and did not have a separate water tank. Port-a-Pottis on the other hand have their own water storage but you have to push a plunger to activate the "flush".

I don't think that it is a vacu-flush type. Once you are finished taking a dump, you just pull a lever that opens a trap door. The only pumping going on seems to be hand pumping the water into the bowl to rinse/flush the bow. Thanks everyone for the feedback.

Sounds like a Port-a-Potti to me. Just add water to the "TOP reservoir" and the treatment to the holding/lower section. Be careful since the treatments can mess with the seal.
