Just had the new Garmin 5208 put in along with Radar, arch mounted rear view color camera, and all connected to a new 26" HD LCD/DVD TV. From the cabin you can choose to watch what's on the Garmin (charts, sonar, camera, XM weather) and also have Apple TV hooked up to the TV and thru the Aux in the Clarion so I can pipe all my itunes.

Sweet! You'll love that unit. You still need to go up to the garmin unit to choose what is being displayed on the tv down below though right? Sure would be nice if they had an rf remote to change the garmin display, or a remote keyboard like Raymarine has.

yeah...that would be great...I also wish I could connect the smartcraft wires to the Garmin but haven't been able to figure that one out..

The Apple TV though is a cool product..I have movies, tv shows, music videos and about a thousand songs on it and take it from the house to the boat when I'm out and can play it thru the Clarion or just down in the cabin.

barryg,

Looks great.

Question: Why have the camera? Is it a special night vision model? Can you tell us more about it? Can you pan and zoom?

Sometimes I am so busy looking out what is in front and on the sides (as far as other boats), that I forget what is behind me...The camera is a great way to check that out. It doesn't zoom or pan, but you can move it to face sideways, forward or rear and up and down, so if I am anchored and have people on the swim platform or at the stern of the boat I can keep an eye on them even when I am down in the cabin. It is color during the day and has LED lights for b&w night vision.
