The new forum software is modified enough for us to make it live. But I am still waiting on the new skin (site design) to get completed. We could literally start using the new software today, it is fully functional. Of course there will be a learning curve to get it exactly tailored to our needs once we start using it. I just don't want to come across as being wishy-washy with this move. If we move now the site will have a generic skin that I put together until the new skin is done. So the "look" of it will change in the very near future.

The alternative is to wait until the new skin is done and do the move then. Either way works for me. The skin should just be a week or so out.

You can actually preview the forum at the link below. It is live, you can totally log in and get your account set up. Anything you do will likely be lost though once we re-import the data from this forum. Please do not make any posts except in the "Test" forum at the bottom. If there is any immediate feedback on the new site I can fix those things now.

I don't see the ablity to view active posts since last visit or for the last 24, 72, etc. hours. Is that there somewhere? If not, I don't think we should move until that feature is ready. Also what about the picture galleries?

Picture galleries are viewable on the link to the left that says "Photo Gallery" or the link on top that says "Gallery"

Last posts are viewable by clicking the link on top that says "New Posts"

Actually, please do make some posts, it will allow me to check some functionality.

The "new posts" link on top shows threads you have not yet seen that are within a day old. Under "Quick Links" you have an option to view threads that were made in the last day whether you have already seen them or not.

IMHO

Don't more without having it all together ... and if everyone needs to re register ... lets do it after everything has been ported over so we don't have to go through it all over again.

Jim,

When I posted a reply on the new site, I received a message that it would not be viewable until approved by a moderator.

Will this be the case in the future? It might slow down the forums and make a lot of work for Wes.

I just added a new post. In preview it works OK but as was mentioned it didn't post until reviewed by a moderator. All the icons one normally uses for attaching pictures, entering URLs, etc are missing as well. This may have something to do with the settings you are using Jim or the settings I have in my profile.................I am not sure but this needs to be addressed as well

I logged in, made a post in the test section, actually I made two replies, did not see the will not post message the first time.
It did not appear that the big green smiley face will be in the message body but actually above it somewhere.
It also appears that you only have a few test photos in the gallery, that means you still have to move photos or do we have to reload since it is a different format.
Looks good, my vote is to wait until complete to move to it,

Dave, all icons for links and attachments are there, and then some. Way more features than the current site. Make sure you click "post reply" to use the full featured reply box, the box that is at the bottom of the thread you are replying to does not have all the features.

Midway, the smilies are all there, they are to the right of the reply box. There is a difference in Gallery and Attachments. Attachments are only viewable in the thread where they are posted. Gallery photos are where you can upload your collection of photos for your boat. All the attachments are in place, the gallery is empty because nobody has uploaded to it yet except a few pics by me.

Jim - UNACCEPTABLE :smt043

I can tell you this will not be the case.

I don't see the ICONS I was describing at all. Here is a link to a POST REPLY I brought up to a posting. http://208.78.40.45/forum/newreply.php?do=newreply&noquote=1&p=52481

The only thing that shows on mine are the Smilies underneath the Reply box. :smt017 :smt017 :smt017

There are just a few smilies under the reply box, but what I was referring to is the fact that the smilies do not appear in the text :smt013 like they do here, they are outside of the text box and only one is allowed. Should make Frank W happy since he does not like them anyway.

The photos I was referring to is the Gallery not attachments and you have answered my question on that, we do have to upload them again. That brings another question, will there be a section for modifications like we now have, I feel that is a thing of the past which is ok, it was just a nice feature. I think I will like the new gallery better as it will allow for more photos in albums per user and we can put the mods in the album just fine.

It will be good when we get used to it.

Nolan......sounds like you have the same problem I did. Do you have smilies on the right? The smilies on the right do appear in the text for me. Make the change in your profile that Jim had me do selecting the "enhanced editor" and I think that will fix it. Here id a post I replied to with smilies in the text. http://208.78.40.45/forum/showthread.php?p=52517#post52517

Ok, followed the advice you gave to Dave, that fixed the smiley face problem.
