New Dinghy and have a few questions

We picked up a new 270 Air Deck over the weekend. I’m a little confused on the HP rating. The brochure says Max HP is 8 HP but the tag on the transom says 6 HP. I guess I’ll have to call Mercury to get to the bottom of that.

Next question is about reg number. How do you guys affix the numbers to the boat? Is there a special paint or flexible vinyl letters? I’m guessing I can’t use the same as on fiberglass boats.

So far we haven’t gotten out on the open water with it yet, but the kids already loving it.

I have a 2011 270. The only difference is mine has the conical tube ends instead of the cutoff ones. Horsepower rating is 10 on the transom.

I'd suggest adding tabs to it. We can plane easily with a 10 horse and loaded to maximum weight.

I called up Mercury, they are sending me a replacement transom tag with the 8HP rating. I guess the AD270 lost 2HP with the conical ends. What tabs do you have on yours?

I've also got a lower pitch, weedless prop. Redline is 20 mph on gps and it runs great. The lifters made all the difference, I expected an improvement but was surprised by how big it was.
