New boater in NJ

Hello. I am the proud owner of a 2011 Sea Ray Sundancer 350 in Somers Point, NJ. I am new to those waters around Ocean City, but it looks to be a great boating spot. Anyone else from around those waters? I could use some advice about navigating that area, all of my prior experience was on Raritan Bay. Thanks in advance.

Welcome and congrats on the 350. Where are you keeping the boat for the summer/winter?

First, Welcome aboard! Second, find a member or a boater you know from the marina you plan to use. If you ask most anyone would be happy help orient you to your planned boating area. Also ask your Dock Master if anyone is willing to take you out, on your own boat, to help.

We do it here. It's an underused source for new to our area boaters and I would like to think we've saved many props and dollars

Nice boat! Love Ocean City NJ!!! Love the shore in general, grew up boating down there so I'm nostalgic. Best of luck with the boat. Maybe the NJ folks will let you in on the secret spot in Barnaget Bay. You might just be the shortest run to the AC Event. I went to the first by land it was a good time.

As for navigation, I can't help I ran our boat aground too many times then I care to remember when I was young kid. I remember going aground on cruise with my dad and mom on board... Super fun rocking the boat off the mud...

Welcome... I have boated in your area... We spent some time at MarineMax dealer where we purchased our 300 DA in 98... The tidal changes are inportant to know. Running a ground is common especially at low tide. As long as you stay in the channels you should not have any trouble. Enjoy your new boat, and ask your dock mates for local knowledge... Waters change and recent knowledge is important...
