A week ago I bought a new boat (2008, not a Sea Ray tho I own a 240SD) with a 2007 Pacific Boat triaxle trailer. Today I took the rig to the trailer manufacturer who fortunately is only a few miles from me. Primary issue is cracking on the sidewall of the tires on the port side. I did coordinate this with the boat dealer. The tire date codes show midyr 2006. We called Carlisle and they agreed to warranty the 3 bad tires. After inspecting the trailer, they noted corrosion around the hubs/suspension and recommended a full checkout of brakes and suspension in addition to mounting the tires. It appeared to them the trailer had been used, perhaps to demo the boat I bought (salt water), but had not been adequately maintained. Cost will likely come to $300-$600, or more if parts are needed.

Should I go after the boat dealer for the cost of the trailer work?

Sure, if it was represented as a new trailer or a used with gaurantee. If it was bought "as is", then not much luck.
