New Boat Owner - Now "UNEMPLOYED"

I know this is a SR forum but as one SR owner to many others I need to network anyway I can.

I recently found your forum which I love. I recently bought a 97 400DA which I love and will take delivery on 3/31 and I am effective today, 2/16 "UNEMPLOYED" after 16 years with this company and all I received was 2 weeks sovereigns pay. I guess that's how it is these days. Downsizing, economy and whole lot of other things I guess played into this termination.
Therefore, I begin the arduous task of networking to find gainful employment as soon as possible.

My cell phone and home phone will be given in PM's if asked for. I live in Bayshore and am 56 years old. I am primarily in the construction (highway & bridgesmostly) field and have done project management, purchasing and estimating in this field but I am sure that I could transition to a different field without too much trouble if necessary. Unfortunately for my prospective employers, I am in the $90k-$100k salary bracket but believe me, I am worth every penny.

Look forward to hearing from some of you soon, very soon.

Hi Michael, I am really sorry to hear about this. Hopefully you can gain employment quickly so your new Sea Ray can be a stress reliever instead of a source of stress. FYI, I moved this post to the Holding Tank because that is the onloy place we currently have for non-sea ray specific conversation. If we let one post through the cracks no doubt many more will follow. If you have any questions please let me know. The post is very visible to all here to see. Good luck

Thank you Jim and I apologize for any impropriety I may have caused. It was not my intention. Just trying the best way possible to network. Thank you for moving my post but still keeping it visible. I still look forward to my stress free days on the boat.

Michael, i'm sorry to hear of the job loss. This is a tough time, so I would advise cutting the boat loose. If the deal did not fund yet(providing their is financing involved) cancel it. Do or say whatever you have to but dont take the boat.

I know your in Long Island but Tommasso bridge building and or contracting is in Ct and all over the place, give them a call, I think their in bridgeport.

Good luck

Thanks for the advice Dave. I'm not up on this stuff so I'm not sure what you mean by if the boat did not fund yet. :smt017

I signed all of the papers and financed it through BOA and take delivery end of March., I guess that means it is funded. NO/Yes? :smt017

Sorry to hear of your loss. I am a Civil Engineer and VP for a firm in FL. Although we have an office in Hartford, CT. I am not sure if you would be willing to make the 2+ hr. commute even if we had a opening for someone of your expertise.

Good morning Michael. If the check was cut for the loan amount and issued to the seller, than it was funded.

Dave

Thank you Brian, Mike and Dave for your kind words and advice.
DAve I think it's a done deal so I will somehow deal with it.
Mike, Would like to email you my resume anyway. Since I am 56 am not adverse to moving to Florida if something worthwhile comes up to finish out my next 20 years of work life.

Thanks again, guys.

Wow, 20 years? You are a work horse. I hope to be retired around 65. Good luck in your search, I'm sure something will come up. Things happen for a reason.

Thanks Brent. I was kind of being facitious but hey, if I want to stay afloat in my new to me boat, I may have to work for the next 20. :smt013
Seriously though, I appreciate your words of encouragement.

Well here it is, 3/13, almost one month to the day and still no employment. If anyone hears of anything in construction estimating/purchasing/senior management arena in the New York/New Jersey/Conn area, please let me know. :smt100 :smt101

OJ
