After a sleepless two days of driving and sea trialing and driving some more, Piringa is on the Saint John River watershed and soon ready to launch. Some cleaning and hull buffing / polishing / waxing (already read the threads!) and we are ready to splash when the water level drops in the river.

Awesome trip home with the NEW Venture VATB 7225 aluminum I beam. I was worried because the truck is theoretically close to max with the 240 and trailer but hardly knew the boat was back there... the fuel gauge noticed. Would I trailer it 400 miles every week - No. But I would not worry if I had to do it again.

I will have questions as I start working on her, but for now just basking in the glow of having a new mistress.

Top pic is in front of the house... bottom pic is going on the trailer at Channel Marine.

Great looking boat!

Congrats!! I know exactly how you feel :)

Groucho... We are used to boating above the dam a few miles upstream of us; there are LOTS of deadheads. Some days you have to stand a watch! Lower river where we will be now is really good as far as deadhead risk.

Prop cost... don't want to know. I will have the sounder alarm set deep and pray. Mostly sandbars and few if any rocks to worry about. Thanks for the warning!

From one "new" 2000 240DA owner to another, welcome! I just got mine in Jan and have only managed to add about 5hrs to it. I'm currently investigating the "spare prop" scene. I'm hoping to find one that has been repaired for a reduced price. I will keep my current one as the full-time duty prop and then have the repaired one for the spare "just get me home" prop.

Beauty... I'm sure you'll have a great summer in that!
Tip; the stains left behind by the rainwater running off the canvas... use simple green cleaner. Just give it a mist, let it sit for a sec and a quick wipe later they're gone. A bit of wax will keep them from coming back as quickly.

Thanks for the advice... I was not sure of the cause. She has been steam cleaned stem to stern (including engine compartment/bilge) to get the macro dirt off since then pic was taken. I have to buff to get ox off and then the polish /wax treatment. BTW StarBrite boat wash did not get the drip stains off... reduced, but not off. Will try the simply green next time for sure.
