New 390 - Old 380 Any Yeahs or Nays?

I just traded up from a 2008 340 to a 2005 420 and I couldn't be more pleased. The 340 was a great boat but the 420 is in a different league. I went to St. Michaels yesterday and the bay was rough but the 420 handled it with ease, in the 340 it would have been a ride from hell. The 420 is 8 ft longer and 2 ft wider and man that makes a huge difference, with the diesel engines I'm getting the same mpg, 1. I just wish I made the move sooner. Don't just think about what you can get new, think slightly older but bigger.

Great thread. I'm going out tomorrow to sea trial a 2010 330 (Just for fun), so I found this very informative.

I did want to mention something my sales rep told me about the 2010 Sea Rays. I've noticed alot of comments on here about the models changing from year to year. According to my sales rep, with 2010 all boat models match the *actual* length of the boat. Meaning a 280 is 28', a 330 is 33', etc. This is supposed to be the case with all 2010 and future boats. There are also a few models that were not produced in 2010, but still show up on the Sea Ray website because dealers are still clearing out some 2009's.

Again, this what my sales rep told me, and from what I saw on the 2010's I compared this was accurate.

Be warned, you are going to love the 330! At the Annapolis boat show, we told ourselves "lets see what they can do for us trading up" .... We sea trial on Sunday!

Just looked it up. What a gorgeous boat! We are considering older larger and we are keeping our options open, but that 390 is very tempting!

Did our sea trial today on the 2010 390. Played with the auto-pilot and radar/map overlay on the E120, cool stuff. I asked about cruising speed and Capt. tells me to run at 3,600 rpm (book recommendation). Capt./ then tells me to take it down to 3,200 and give her a little down trim. Boat settles in, bow lays down, engines purr, and I think I fell in love!

Admiral likes the dark cherry interior, black marble countertops, lighted cedar closets, cockpit TV/DVD, and comfortable bed with spring mattress.

Barring something unforeseen, we settle next weekend.

It's a beautiful boat! Enjoy!
Maybe we'll see you up here DC sometime.

Just ran across this thread...amazing how great minds think alike. Just traded up from 2010 350 to 2010 390. Just couldn't pass up the deal and wanted just a bit more room for overnight and privacy with the 390. On another thread I have pointed out to "Justus2" about the dropdown TV issues in the main cabin but that is minor. Would love a bit more storage but overall find this boat easier to handle in tight spots. Wife was sold on the cockpit air as it can get unbearably hot down here in the summer. The 390 has bow and stern thrusters and I find that a bit more intuitive than the axius. Just a touch in the right spot and you are docked. Installed an additional cockpit TV above the sink and it works great for ball games. You can sit at the helm and enjoy without having to go to the stern to watch the game. Also looking into a video feed to one of the C120 screens. The battery set up is much better than the 350. Anybody getting into the 350 with axius needs to get the maintenance free batteries. I had voltage issues on the 350 and axius is a hog in that regard. Seems that the maintenance free "green top" batteries solved the problem after I traded.

Overall - love the 390.

It's amazing. We thought the 330 (now 350) was going to be perfect for us. Sounds like we had the same issue. More space needed. Don't have a stern thruster on this one (have the bow thruster) and we have not been able to get out on it since the sea trial. We are winterizing next week so it looks like spring before we really get to "Play". Let me know how the video feed to the C120 works out.

We don't really have to winterize here. Just watch weather from time to time. Went out last weekend...it was mid 80s. I just got all the "pink stuff" out of the water system. Let you know about feed. I added a few other odds and ends (speakers forward facing-great custom install and sat kvh tv and sat tv dockside). Also going to add another set of grabrails going forward along the hardtop. You may want to check that out.

I have the 07' 38 which is the same boat as the 39 no. Great boat. Had some minor issues but nothing that was not taken care of. You will enjoy it.
