New 370 Sundancer Outboard - Coming Soon

The height of the hardtop is up there... target market looks like it might be basketball players... it really looks disproportionate

I agree it appears disproportionate (which may explain the use of black to lessen the visual height).

Someone earlier mentioned "platypus" and I think it's unfortunately accurate.

All that glass it better have UV glass and shades because it's a floating Green house. Do they use double pane windows on boats. Even UV glass generates heat being single paned.

Had an 88 300WE way back in the day. It was a great boat in terms of size, maintenance, efficiency, maneuverability, etc. But to get the great cockpit space you compromised the cabin space which was fine with us since our two young daughters fit fine on the the converted dinette bed and didn't mind sleeping together.

Back to the 370DA, I believe it will be a stretched 320 DA with a lot of shared components.

I've been looking pretty seriously lately at these larger bowrider hybrids, with and without outboards. I like the concept of the bowrider hybrid but it's another case of compromising the interior for the exterior and a little bit of seaworthiness for open water. Only you will know what's important to you.

The size boats I'm looking (31'-35') are either offered with OB's or IO's, not Inboards. So the choice is really OB or IO.

The outboard question is a perplexing one for me. OB's are great in shallow environments and environments where you can literally raise 100% of the boats mechanicals out of the saltwater. Also flushing is a breeze and no concerns about risers and manifolds. You pay a lot more for this option as well.

I love the transom/swim platforms of the the IO's and most go faster and burn less fuel the OB's but you pay in terms of saltwater damage to manifolds and risers and the fact that the lower unit can't be raised out of the water and therefore suffers far more damage from corrosion. Other than the Ilmor engines you need to budget pretty big $$$s for 3-5 year replacement of manifolds and risers. The boat I buy would probably be lift or rack stored.

I really don't know what to think or do at this point. No perfect solution.
Thought you might find the serviceability on the new 370 interesting based on your comment:

Not sure what those 300 hp x3 get for MPG but it only has a 250 gallon fuel Cap. At 18,000 pounds dry weight with a 12' beam it only has 300 hp more then my little 310 Da. with the same fuel capacity.

I don't know how you can do a bowrider hybrid in any type of chop. Even on lake Michigan, we frequently have 1-2 foot chop and can take some spray on the bow even just going to the beach. Seems like a mess waiting to happen to me.
I can get 1 to 2 foot chop on the wide parts of the Tennessee I've heard of 8 foot swells on the big lakes

I noticed the roof panels have some fritting to block out some of the sun.

Figure 28gph each at WOT. Cruise will probably be 25-30 gph at 25 mph so .8-1 mpg.

That range is pretty horrible even with a 250 gallon tank.
Damn...so it is me. I didnt have any sound.... it did allow me to focus on the house the 370 was docked at though. If you are going to pick a random house that was a good one :)

There are some stacked bars in the lower right corner of the video that will enable sound. The house was great. In fact, the backstory on the house is that we used it for a 4-part documentary video series that will be releasing soon. #behindthescenes

Yeah, we don't go out in that. :)

But we can head to a beach behind a breakwater about 15-20 min away. You can take a little pounding until you get inside the breakwater.

I will say this, the outboards do sit low so they seem less obstructive than on other boats.

So I got to be a Fake TV reality show host / Model to afford this. Could they have found two more fake people to represent a boater. Or is that what Sea Ray is looking for people without a clue with a lot of money. Neither one of those people could take care of a row boat let alone a big boat without just paying someone to do it. I would have rather seen the Flex Seal guy do this promo then that D bag I guess the Scott Brothers were busy.

This is exactly what I got from the video. I couldn't last more than a minute once they started talking.

That produced video from Sea Ray is what I was expecting for the launch. Far more informative and a much better presentation of the boat.

It was humorous how many times he had to say 'optional' though. That had to get a bit uncomfortable after a while :)

So my biggest fear about these large bowriders is taking a wave over the bow and swamping the boat. It seems to be the single biggest feature that prevents these boats from taking on more serious water. Without going down the sheet of plywood path it seems that some type of convertible approach could be made to somehow close off the area when underway in less than ideal conditions. I there were something like clamshell panels that would pull out of the gunnel and cover the area with a sturdy hard surface. May be impractical, too heavy, to large or ??? but it's a thought.

The design looks like a nightmare in a big Lake Michigan following sea. I can see that low slung anchor destroying what ever it is attached when the seas rise up to the top of the bow. Lots of water will be coming into the open bow in a chop. Where will it end up? Imagine detailing such a complicated boat with nooks and creases everywhere. It will be difficult to keep looking ship shape without spending hours of cleaning and polishing. The area below is complex as well, but not in a good way. This will be a boat for small lakes where that water does not get rough. Add to that a price that will likely be astronomical and it does not look promising.

I went thru the build on the sea Ray site and got it up to $833k without the $54k seakeeper.

LOL - I was at miami beach marina yesterday and watched a "crew" like this return to the slip in a new 320da outboard.....granted he was fighting the wind, but it wasn't pretty - even with a joystick
