New 350 Sundancer

I'm also curious about the 2008/9 350s (which became 370 in 2010). I have a 1998 310DA I've been thinking of upgrading for years. I like to buy used 5-7 years old in good shape. Seems to be good bang for the buck for a relatively new boat. While I agree the new pricing on these boats is insane - what are people seeing on the used market? Do the "haters" of the 350 have a different thought as a used purchase?

I'm having a hard time finding a Sea Ray to upgrade to -
  • From my point the 320 that came after my 310 isn't really an "upgrade". It is nicer interior but no bigger. I prefer my layout. There are a lot of 320s in my harbor. Several of the owners of these have commented how my 310 feels bigger.
  • The 340 that came after my boat and before the 2008 350 looks great on paper. The size is about right and w/ the 8.1s the performance is very good. But I don't love the outside layout and seating. It doesn't have the nice open flow as my 310 w/ the capt chair that spins and horseshoe seating. I also like having the extra seating next to the driver on the 310. The swim platform on the 340 is too small and too high off the water as well.
  • The 2008 350 layout seems awesome and I'm starting to think a hardtop might be a good idea for my skin. But the weight and fuel economy concerns me. I also don't want an under powered boat - which my 310 is close to. I've only been on a 350/370 at the dealer....not on the water.

2008 350s seem to be rather rare in the Chicago market as well. I'm contemplating finding the newest / cleanest / best priced 340 I can but I know long term I probably won't be happy. I guess until then I'll hold onto the 310 but as clean and well maintained as mine still is - it would be a good sell/trade now. In a few years it may not be.

Thoughts?

I would just add from my experience: I own a 2008 330 and when I purchased it used 2 yrs ago I looked all over for a 2008/9 350 and couldn't find any at all. I have no idea how many were actually made but I have rarely seen any for sale.

I looked at the 330/350 also. I don't think it is big enough but may look again.

Farrbar,
Don't limit yourself to the Chicago area. If you play your cards right, do your homework and know exactly what you want, you can work an awesome deal "anywhere" over the phone pending a survey and sea trial. I'm in Minnesota and on my 3rd boat that I have had shipped in from various places. It isn't that expensive for transport especially when you consider the money you save by expanding your search.
Coming from an 02 340DA we were just going to upgrade to a newer 340 because of the cost of a 350DA but we looked a little deeper and found an affordable GEM 2008 350DA in Key West on a short sale. I paid $100K less than most of the others for sale. I absolutely love the 350DA over the 340DA same year. So many differences to mention.
There a couple 350's on yachtworld that are affordable right now. 2 in Texas and one has diesels. Probably $4k to get it to Chicago.

We have yet to see a 35 on the water. Has SR sold any of them on Lake Michigan or Lake Huron?

Well, we did see one in Leland a year ago. That's about it. In retrospect, it seems the boat was overpriced for what it was and did not sell in the Lake Michigan market. Alternatively, the timing of the launch could have hardly been more unfortunate. No builder had good sales when this boat came on the market.

I own the 09 anniversary edition 350da I love the boat it's just me and my wife and it big enough for us we have had my 2 nieces and my nephew stay on for overnights it gets a bit tight but I love the boat but with gassers she's a thirsty wench at 18064 lbs dry she's heavy but handles great. Got her as a left over in 11 and paid 100,000 under value so they are out there but they are hard to find.

I have been looking. That TX boat with diesels has been available for a long time. I wish it didn't have a black hull. The bilge looks pretty messy as well. I'm hoping for something local mostly b/c I'd rather trade in my current boat then deal with the hassle. I can be patient. My boat is in pretty damn good shape. Just itching for an upgrade.

When I had my '08 330DA, I loved it, but had '08 350 envy due to the separate shower stall, but that's pretty much it. I never really saw any other advantage to the 350DA. In fact, with the same power packages as the 330 and lower fuel mileage, the 350DA was a disadvantage.

Does anyone with this model boat (08/09 350DA or 10-13 370DA) know or have any ideas about the manual showing an optional electric sunshade? I have never seen one but the wires are in the hard top and I did see it in the wiring diagram. I just can't figure out where it's actuated from. I would like to use the wires for an air horn.
look at page 8 of this link and then at the wiring diagram on page 33 on the right side.

Does anyone with this boat know what the "speaker mute" button on the left side of the dash actually mutes? Also, one of the accessory buttons on the right side turns the "under water" lights on, what does the other do? Thank you.

The other accessory switch is for the anchor wash down on my 350. I can't recall the mute button.

Thank you for the reply. The other accessory (on mine) is not for the anchor wash down. Mine is pressurized from the water system just like another faucet. Still looking for the answers. ;)

The mute button is to mute the speakers in the cockpit. Its for playing music in the cabin only. Perfect for overnighters when its time to go below deck.

Well.. I tried that and it didn't mute the speakers. If that truly is what the button does, why would sea ray also put a cockpit stereo on/off switch just inside the cabin as you go down the steps?

see if it mutes your swim platform speakers,

In my experience the stereo and speaker system is a hodgepodge setup and noting works exactly the way it should.
Also, the TV in the cabin doesn't have audio feeding it, so the speakers on the TV don't have sound! It's odd watching TV with the sound coming from behind you (speakers at the bed).

Interesting about your wash down. Mine has a seawater pump that pulls water from the river, so it doesn't take water from my holding tank. Hence why I have to power mine one.

Could your second accessory switch be a dummy and a not-installed accessory?

I'm guessing the 2nd ACC switch is a blank. I just have to figure out how to utilize it.

My cabin TV works with its own audio. The V berth TV uses the speakers in the V berth.

Another question, I read on here about the 2nd ipod jack in the fwd stbd hanging locker running the bow speakers. I hook up an ipod but can't seem to get anything to work. There is also 2 pin jacks in the same area which I have no clue what they are for.

The iPod dock in the forward hanging locker does work with my bow speakers. I'd have to look at it to see what 2 pin jack you're referring to.

We don't have the V berth TV, just the one in the salon and cockpit TV. I'd love to get the speakers working, but I think i'm going to have to tear everything apart to get access.

It is the ipod dock and 2 separate pin jacks in the locker. When you hook up you ipod to that dock, do the speakers just automatically run through your ipod? Everything controlled via the ipod? Thanks!
