... The builder's web site is actually wrong when it adds the pulpit and platform and calls everything LOA...

What? Then it's wrong on every boat they make:

3500 Sovran
L.O.A. without Standard Pulpit and with Standard Swim Platform: 35'3" - 10.74 meters
L.O.A. with Standard Pulpit and with Standard Swim Platform: 37'9" - 11.50 meters

While it is interesting to campare a Tiara to a Sea Ray, the Tiara is is a different class. A higher one. Those are some extremely well built boats. Lots of attention to detail in places most people never look. For a similar Sea Ray (in size)to exceed the price of one of those..... That is worth noting.

Interesting also that the newbies tend to like the new designs while the more experienced of us don't. It could be that Sea Ray is onto something or it could be that the newbies just don't have very many references to compare the new design to. It could be that the more experienced of us are stuck in our old ideas (a la who moved my cheese). Or it could be that we know a turd when we see one.

loa=length overall. lwl=length of waterline which is how the open series is named. They went to a different naming system with the Sovrans to make things even more confusing. Those are now named for the loa from the end of the pulpit to the end of the swimplatform. Using that methodology a 3200 would be called a 38 foot boat as it is 37'8" loa with pulpit and optional swimplatform. The web site is not very well run if you look around. Even the specs show up in two different places for each model. The company is in the process of establishing all new IT systems and does not want to invest time in its current web site. Still, you would think they would correct obvious errors but it's not on their radar screen. Initially the boat weights were also way off. Those actually vary by specific boat depending on options. I believe they simply show the weight of a hull with no options.

I agree. I've been wanting to see a 3900 Convertible in person. A friend has a 3200 and it's great boat, quite a lot of space inside. Not as 'comfy' as the typical express though, but fantastically well laid out in the engine compartment.

Hey Bill, nice to see you here. The Four Winns site is a little slow with traffic this time of year. Good group here too.
All is well with your 348 Vista I trust?

Nice pics Rob...I notice that the transom door is starboard. The cockpit layout must be similar to the 1990-1994 350/370DAs....got any pics of the cockpit...

No cockpit picture sorry . I have a few profile pics from the ground . No ER pics either.
The more i look at the boat the more of a terd I think it is .... Only thing that looks cool is the vberth shot. How long before it breaks though.

Golf clap....

Is it me or does the galley area seem more confined. eg., the rear of the counter starts further toward the middle of the boat compared to the 340, which starts at the edge. Also, the sofa seems straight rather than curve. A table may make it very difficult to move around. I know it's hard to tell from that one galley picture. Perhaps I just need to see one in person.

Teekster,

I imagine you're right since the head/shower are separate.

They are within the same area and waybe molding but the shower has a clear door so the water doesn't get out during a shower. Other manufactures have this also. Takes up a little more space but worth it IMO.

Mike

Agreed - just pointing out that this is probably the reason that the galley is a little cramped for space. Everything's a trade off.

This thread prompted me to go over to the Searay website and do my once a year lookaround.

Looking at each of their segments, I think their Sport Boat segment is strongest. Lots of great boats, various styles and good pricing. The Yachts look OK, especially with the '08 models. They are sleek, bold and convey quality. Where they seem to really be lacking (in design especially) is in Sport Cruiser segment. Click on each of the 4 segments and just look at the offerings in each.. sport cruisers needs to be a focus for them...

The other thing I realized is that the "Technology" page remains essentially unchanged for going on 4 years now....

Re the new 350..I don't like the 350's style overall, like the top, like the pod drive option, don't like the price and hate the 80's minivan window on the hull. (Teekster, I like yours better too.)

We looked through a 350 Dancer at the Dallas Boat Show. We like our 2001 340 Dancer over the new 350.

We have yet to see a 35 on the water. Has SR sold any of them on Lake Michigan or Lake Huron?

I just read this thread from start to finish. 9 pages Jan. 08 to Feb. 08 2 posts in 09. Now that 5 years have passed, I wonder how peoples feelings have changed about the then "new" 350 Sundancer. I just bought one used and absolutely love it! I came from an 02 340DA. The "new" 350 is night and day a more classy dancer (my opinion obviously). Just curious..........

I would be happy with a 1990 350 Sundancer! More room and easy to work on.....almost 40ft, Mike.

I have a 2010 350DA. I love it with the exception of the poor fuel economy and limited range of my 8.1 HO's. Other than that, the boat is great.

I'm less of a fan of the current 350. (2013+)
The boat underwent a major redesign for 2013.

I believe your "2010 350DA" the 330DA in previous years? The boat that was being discussed in this thread was the "new then" 2008 350DA which in 2010 got rebranded a 370DA. I'm sure your 350DA is great but its a different boat.
