Finally getting close to launching. The new cabin table went aboard this morning.

Looks pretty awesome, Henry. Is that cherry or mahogany? Will the finish be essentially scratch proof or will you have to worry everytime you use it that someone will slide a dish across it and scratch it?

Tony,

I went with Cherry in the cabin. The table I made for up top is teak. Both have been coated with Polyurethane, only difference being the cockpit table was done with marine exterior, and the cherry table was done with regular exterior.

I've had good experience with both so I'm not overly concerned about scratching. Anyway if anything does happen, I'll just refinish it over the winter.

Well,

The new table didn't last long. That's what happens when you have a woodworker in the house. The boss decided it was too plain. Sooooo we went back to the workshop. In fairness I wasn't all that happy the way the water based poly came out.

Here is part deux:

I split the table into roughly 4" wide strips and inserted Coccobollo strips between the cherry and added fiddles on the edges.
