Hi Everyone,

We are eagerly awaiting delivery of our new 265 this coming Thursday. She is going to be based on the River Trent for a year or so whilst we get used to her and then we can consider where next.

This is our second boat, previously we owned a 2006 Cruisers 280cxi with twin diesels, which we enjoyed.

Not sure if there are many UK based SR owners?

Thanks

Chris

I looked at a Cruisers 280cxi once and thought it was a slick nice boat, but with diesels? That would have been nice :)

Thanks for the response, here she is, moored at Ardlui, Loch Lomond. We bought her from the Scottish dealer for Sea Ray. It was very wet…

Here is the dealer showing the boat off for professional photos just before we bought her, this is the same place as the image above, just a lot nicer day…

Welcome aboard Chris. Your new boat is beautiful. Tell us about that bow railing. Is that aftermarket dealer installed, or O.E. standard in the Euro market?
It’s OEM for Euro market. I’m not sure if it applies to all models, but the 265 is built in Poland. The build quality is very high. Ours came with full teak flooring, which has been fitted very well.

Copy, that's what I suspected. What is the main purpose? I understand it is for boarding but is that when you beach the boat or when you bow in, or...? I saw the teak on the platform in your pic. I'll bet it is beautiful in person. Best of luck with her.

Chris - maybe I missed it - what is your engine/drive setup?

Drive by wire 6.2 350 with Bravo 3 leg. Bow thruster makes it an easy boat to handle in close quarters. It’s a good spec.
She is a beauty!

We have had fuel price increases this past year (thanks Biden), but I hate to think what you pay over there! Do you have ethanol in your gasoline (or should I say "petrol"!).

We are paying around $9 per gallon (US gallon). It’s interesting when you compare fuel costs per annum in the UK vs the USA. The average UK boat does less than 50 hours per annum, so, my fuel costs are actually manageable across a full year. We don’t have the waterways you guys have, I wouldn’t have a gas boat on the coast in the UK, it would cost too much to run, but inland, not so bad (in context).
We love the American sports cruiser concept, Euro designed boats are great, but they are designed for the bad weather we experience a lot of the time, we love the cockpit size/style of the US designed boats, to cope with the colder/wet days we have a diesel powered central heating system and wear good kit

Sorry I forgot to answer your fuel question
We now have E10 gas which as it states is around 10% ethanol, obviously our friend in Russia has mucked things up a little with fuel prices going crazy for a while, but settling down some. As my post mentions above, I budget for around 50 hours annual engine time at lower cruising speeds, so overall fuel costs are not our single biggest cost to run the boat.

Marina fees, Government licences, insurance and annual maintenance would be our biggest cost. Boating as a % of net income is an expensive pastime in the UK, but my wife and I have few other vices…

Beautiful boat! I really like that bow rail set up. It would be real handy while boarding off a trailer on the ramp as well.

Same here, fuel cost is the lowest expense in ownership. I spend more on beer at a tiki bar than the fuel to get there.

I think it’s for the Scandinavian market, they are keen ‘bow to’ mooring’. They have a really good dealer based in the Netherlands who has put Sea Ray on the map in Europe.
