I meant to say canvas support poles. You should hsve one for the cockpit cover and one for the bow cover. I leave the carpet in to help the poles stay in place. You don't have to lay the bimini flat. If you can do so without the bimini bracing contacting the gelcoat, you would put less stress on the mounts and bracing. Wrapping the bracing with noodle floats may do the trich while the bimini is down. I would not worry about taping down the engine hatch with the covers on.
