Ok someone or anyone figure out how to make the warm weather last longer or just a couple of weeks of winter then its over........

Seems like it was just the other day, you guys were talking about dewinterizing. Sorry your season is so short

I actually gave this a lot of thought and I'm not sure I would want to boat year round. Blaspheme....I know, however hear me out. I've often wondered if too much of a good thing would be bad. Maybe our friends in the year round warmer climates can speak to this. I mean if I boated year round at the rate we do in the summer the costs would be astronomical not to mention I would be out of a job because I don't think any employer would give me the amount of days off I deserve. Would that then sour me on the lifestyle of boating? Also the anticipation of spring is that much sweeter with the winter. Oh well, I'm sure come mid January I'll change my tune so don't mind me I may just be talking out my a$$! P.S Have a good weekend all...i'm leaving work early to go to the Newport Boat show..!

I understand, but its really hot here in July and August, so the bigger boats seem to stay in slips. We all have smaller center consoles etc to go to the beaches. Spring and Fall seem to be our cruising season. I'm guessing we don't spend any more on fuel than you do up north since they sit in the summer months. We don't have to winterize here, we just take some precautions, bilge heaters etc. Again it's so sad to think winter is already about here for some.

In "LA" Lower Alabama it is boating season all year long. We just do not go as much in the winter but at least one day a month it is nice enough to get out.

We can boat all year, but August is just a b!t$# it's so hot, so staying at the slip often happens. Fall is very nice but often in Winter it can be very windy. I doubt we boat too much more than folk up north do, but our boating may be more spread out a bit. Not forgetting that most of us have chores down here too:) Did I say we have chores down here too.....:)

That is what I was thinking. Around here we have a pretty solid 6 month season... a bit cool at the bookends, but very "boatable" Apr-Oct. Having spent some summers in the Southern FL area, I'm pretty sure a cold beer in the air conditioned bar would be more appealing to me than the cockpit most days in July and August!

EVERYONE point your fans toward Canada and blow that cold crap back where it belongs !!

I haven't been out much at all this summer. Not so much the heat, but just busy doing other things. Also, there are lots of idiot boaters on the water, and irresponbible kids from late May to Labor Day. We seem to boat more in the spring and fall.

Isenglass and warm clothes... My problem is not the cold weather, it is my kids school schedules... Time to use the boat is limited when school starts... Before children, I have used our boat one week and snow skied the next. You are in TN, where it is a lot warmer than the North East... So put up your isenglass, put on a jacket, and see if you can boat until January...

I lost the season due to major rework. Barring my boat going up for sale following the stroke I have when I see the bill I look forward to the fall.

Sous is right about fall cruising in the Mid Atlantic region. It's actually my favorite time of year. All the yayhoos are off the water and you can take a nice slow cruise to where ever on any of the several rivers in the ares and watch the leaves turn. It's a lot less stressful to me than a summer raft up where there seems like there is always something to do or be done.
