I hope someone can help me out. I recently bought a 1987 460 Express Cruiser and want tpo sort out the wiring as I update equipment and investigate previous changes. I have the original manual but no wiring diagram was provided. Sea Ray has no further detail online nor when I called. Does anyone have a source for the drawings I need?

Thanks in advance.

Were you able to get Schematics?
I have an 1988 460. If I remember I will pull the books, and take a few picture scans.

I also have an 88' 460, but with Detroit's. I have all of the original documentation as well. There is no schematic that I have found. I also went through this same endever two years ago. The real issue is most of the wiring is done by the engine manufacturer and the rest of the boat would be by Sea-Ray. In our years (80's) most boats were not documented like they started to be in the 90's and most certainly are now.

I have gotten to know my boat real well on the past two years, if I can help answer any of your questions please post back here and I'll give it my best shot based on my boat.

Have any of you tried to look on the SR website under the section for owner's resources? They have some wiring schematics on there.

LOL... I looked in the owners pocket and also could not find a schematic. I found descriptive circuits and amp draws of appliances, but that's about it.

I think you might have to break it down by system. Meaning the system monitor, fireboy etc. These systems might be easier to find schematics for. The vacuflush also has independent wiring schematics. It's a rough way to put this together but it can be done. I did the this for mine as well.

What engines do you have? I see MTA listed but 550 hp. The 550hp are they DDEC's? or the Low profile 475hp? The reason I ask is Boatdeesel dot com has most if not all of the manuals you would need for the 6V92TA's but I am not sure about the DDEC's. If you still have the engine plates they should list the injector type which will help with the HP rating. The DDEC's will have an electronic control box to go along with them as well. But the TA's are all mechanical and would have an injector like 9225, most boat applications.

The reason I ask is the 550hp is rare for this boat and alot of people get these engines confused on the HP rating. I know I was until I owned my boat now. All of the gauge wiring is going to come from the engine manuals, perhaps not the color coding but that can be figured out by point to point buzz out.

Hello all. My apologies for not responding to above till now. Was not forwarded the messages. Never did find schematics. I can trace the wiring for the systems I am focusing on but it would be much easier to work from schematics.

Note: My '83 355AC manual had schematics but they were more of a recommendation than what the Sea Ray installers actually did.

I have Cat 3208's at 375 HP each. The boat could have used a few more horses. Cruise at 17 knots.

While, 10 months have passed and I continue to work through the wiring maze.

Have upgraded some helm instruments and stereo (the easy stuff). Made some modifications to the 12VDC system. Cleaned up much of the spaghetti behind the helm. Adding a proper house battery monitor (Victon BMV-312) this spring.

Have yanked out abandoned wire left behind from prior owners (an ongoing process). This spring I am sorting through the inverter and generator. Still trying to trace out how the 240V, 50 amp power inlet is split within the panel and sub-systems. Wire tracing from the hull side connection to the panel is frustrating. Air conditioners are 240V but the balance of the panel is 120V and 12V.

A schematic would have been nice.

I am also looking for a schematic for 87 Express Cruiser. I'm charging batteries with 120 volt external chargers on some batteries because onboard charger not keeping them up. I dont know if its the wiring or what. I guess I'll just trace everthing out the hard way.
