Hi,
I recently moved my 380 to florida and now understand the need for a good chartplotter, I realize this question will be quite subjective but would like to hear your thoughts

I am looking to spend @ 2k and was looking at the raymarine c8o, c90w and the garmin 4210.

The boat currently has the raytheon x series radar and a 601xx chartplotter.

I will replace the radome at a later date.

Thanks

Scott

My last boat had the Garmin. My current boat has the Raymarine C80. I much prefer the Garman. The Garmin in my humble opinion is more user friendly and easier to operate.

Coke or Pepsi?

Honestly, you can't go wrong with any of the big three...Furuno, Raymarine, or Garmin.
All of them work flawlessly for some, and not so flawlessly for others.

I have RM with no regrets. Furuno is still top of the heap IMO, but I believe the new NN3D is out of your price range.

I got NN2D early last year...and got a smoking deal because they were trying to clear the warehouses of 2D to make room for the 3D.

I got a gaggle of rebates on the 2D....like 35-40% off my total spend in three different rebates.

If Furuno is still selling the 2D, look for this rebate program.

I have a Raymarine E80 in my 380 and it looks and works great. I have it networked to the autopilot, sirius weather, and an A50 and the ST70.

Which systems will still work with an Analog radar Array is also a question, without having to upgrade the radar to digital.

I would like to upgrade my plotter, but keep my current 4Kw array system, so let me know what you find out.

Thanks

Thanks for replies.....I called ray marine they say the old radome will not interface with the c or e series....

Will I have to replace the gps antenna? If so I may be better off updating the radome now

Scott

You should be able to use whatever gps sensor you have- with any manufacturer's MFD.
They're all NMEA 0183, which is universal.

If your wallet can handle it, the best "deals" are usually with the "packages". MFD combined with radar, sounder black box, maybe the radio/Wx black box as well.

A call to Jim, our site sponsor, BOE marine will definitely be worth your time. I have a 4210 and really like it. Very intuitive. You may have to up your budget though to get all of the pieces you really need to do the upgrade. Keep us posted.
