We have been looking for a new hatch for our anchor compartment online, and are amazed at the price variations from $33.00-$299.00 for a 11X19! Does anyone have experience with ordering a hatch from an online company? Our trim is the dark green, and would like to replace both the anchor and main hatch with either dark green or the beige of our boat. Found alot of brown hatches (?). Thanks in advance!

I too was suprised by the price of the starboard that was online. Not wanting to invest a whole lot into Starboard right now, I just made one out of marine grade 3/4 ply. Routed out the channel for the weather seal, and put the teak trim pieces all the way around. I stained the ply with mahogony stain and then sealed the entire piece in resin. Cost $0. Had everything laying around in the garage. Its not perfect, but it will work until I can find a good deal on some Starboard scraps.

My 220DA didn't have an anchor locker, so I cut into the deck and added one :wow:

Funny, I pretty much used the same technique to make the cover as you did, only I used 1/2" Starboard. I had searched for reasonably priced ready-made hatches, but couldn't find one. Of course, once I finished making it I found a few places that sold hatches that would have worked fine. If I had to do it again I'd go with the ready made version.

I saw one recently at Fred Chall Marine Supply http://www.fredchallmarine.com/newsletter.html
It's 10" x 20" (23 3/4" x 14" overall) and the price was 100.00 plus shipping. They also had other sizes in stock.
