I'm looking to have my canvas replaced on my 360 Dancer. My boat is located in Plattsburgh (NY). Anybody to recommend in the area or Burlington (VT) ?

Thanks!

We've been in in the area for quite a few years and finding a canvas shop is really tough. Norty did one of our first boats and is great, but he no longer wants to come out and climb around on a boat to get measurements, though he'll do anything you can trailer or carry to his shop.

I'd stay away from Adirondack Canvas Works. We had some work done by Kieth a few years back and he didn't put enough slant on the canvas. We couldn't leave the canvas up as it bellied and caught water to the point of collapsing. Turned out to be a very expensive sun shade.

There's a couple of places in VT. I don't know if they're any good or not, but their websites look like they work to much smaller boats.

All the good stuff seems to come from the marinas and their canvas people in Canada. Gosslin and Gagnon are both very reputable marinas. We've had good luck with both, though no canvas work done there. Problem is you have to motor up, and leave the boat for a while.

We purchased a boat from Fortin many years ago and they charged us for work not done, including a bilge pump repair which nearly cost us the boat and quite possibly our lives!!!

Hope this helps. Let me know if you find one you like as we're in need of canvas for our 1988 340ec. See ya on the lake!
