Hi, I've been restoring a 19 foot Sorrento for several months now.
Here's a brief list of immediate needs.

Teleflex Tach
Rear swim platform ladder
Steering wheel
Black Plastic glove box door assembly

and lots more...

This boat was headed to salvage after the original owner died and his wife left it out in the weather for 4 years. The hull is in impecable condition and the owner had just put a brand new 205hp 4.3 liter engine in it so I saved this boat from going to salvage and begun the process of restoring it.

I've completely replaced the floor and removed all the interior panels due to rot so now I'm in the process of putting her back together.

If you know of a old Sorrento sitting around for parts please email me and let me know. I can't seem to find anything locally.

The first picture below is to show the swim ladder I need
The second are the bilge vents
Third is the glove box assembly
and the rest, well self explanatory lol.

Thank you,
Jesse

I do not have parts specifically for the boat, but have other model parts that may fit if I have the dimensions of what you need.

Jesse,

check salvage yards. You'll probably need to visit them in person, and bring your own tools. Also, keep an eye on ebay and craigslist.

good luck. show us pics of before/after!

Thank you, I am going to take pictures of the interior of the boat and try to post them on here to show the panels and stuff still missing inside. If worse comes to worse I'll cut out new plywood and recover them myself but I was trying to keep it looking as original as possible. So trying to find factory panels.

Thank you,
Jesse

Thank you Gregg,

Unfortunately, here where I am at in Central Florida there are very few salvage yards.... All of them are a hundred miles or more away.

I am on ebay daily looking for parts and craigslist every so often. So far I haven't found anything specific to this model boat....Just allot of general Sea Ray stuff.

Regretfully I forgot to take any interior before pictures but I'll take allot of finished pics once it's done.

More to come later.....

Ok here are some pic's I just took 4-11-08 of it's current condition. I will post more tomorrow with more up close pictures of the items I'd like to find.

So far I've completely replaced the floor, replaced the expanding foam and refiberglassed it in, I've installed new carpet, new seat(s) and removed all the side panels that were still in place. They were all rotted out beyond repair.

It's not perfect but it is 100% better then when I bought it. The floor was so soft you could bounce on it.

Also, if you look closely you can see the interior side panels I am missing. and the holes for the swim ladder that's missing. the mounting holes are a tad less then 13 inches wide.

Give me your thoughts...good or bad.

Thank you.
Jesse

That is looking good. Your boy looks proud of that boat ! Have you tried http://www.fpmarine.com/ I had an '89 200br and it was a very similar boat. Had great times with it. As far as bow and cockpit covers you will have to have them made locally as your boat is to old to buy them "off the shelf". I would say the same for the side panels. It appears you have the skills to make the side panels so do it yourself. keep us posted on your progress.

Thank you, My son is VERY anxious for me to get it done. He's supposed to be helping me but all he really does is talk me to death. :smt101

I thank you for the compliment on the work.... I enjoy projects like this....take something nobody really wants and bring it back to something desirable.

I have to agree with you, I have come to the conclusion that I am going to have to make the side panels myself. I am finding out that there isn't too many of these boats still in existance anymore.

I guess I'll get started on them this weekend.

Have a good one,
Jesse

I have pictures of the ladder and the glove box. Please message me with your email address and I can shoot them over to you.

Just an update,

I purchased a new out-drive from http://www.sterndrive.cc mostly due to the Three year "Fault Free" warranty. Nice Drive! It is actually a little heavier then my old Mercruiser drive.

As a first time owner the fault free warranty really appealed to me. If I screw it up, I know it will be replaced with no questions asked. Peace of mind for me!

Anyway, I got it installed and found my lower shift cable is no good so I've taken it back off and now I'm on the hunt for a lower shift cable..... Uhg

Re: UPDATE!

I got the new shift cable installed along with the new outdrive.

I took it out today and water tested it and it worked very good. I did have a couple minor problems I'll need to resolve but for the most part she ran very good. Maintained 145 degrees temp with 70 lbs of oil pressure at approx 2500 revs.

I'm pleased!

I am not sure why but once the boat hits 35mph (1/2 the throttle) it stops accelerating and the boat feels like it's maxed out. If I rev it higher it does not gain any speed and it sounds like the prop is cavitating. Anyone know what the problem might be.

another problem we experianced was the ignition switch went out. It is stuck in the on position. No big deal I just unhooked the battery and shut it off but now I got to find a new switch. :smt009

and finally, the power steering is not working. The pump is completely quiet with a little flow when looking in the resiviour
but I have no steering assist at all. So not real sure where where to begin with this either. Back to the manual I guess lol.

A couple of things come to mind. Is the ratio in the new outdrive the same as the old outdrive? If so, did you start with the same size and pitch prop as the factory installed?
I got my 87 Sea Ray last summer and got a lot of use out of it. The props looked pretty tired when I took her out of the water in the fall. I was directed to the Sea Ray site where I got the ooriginal specs for the props and plan to start with exactly what Sea Ray put on back in 87 whedn I replace them next weekbefore she goes back in the water. I figure that is always a safe place to start.

Yes I verified the prop is the correct prop for this model. I also purchased the same ratio outdrive that came off of it... 1.84

that is why I am baffled.

If you're still in need of the vents, although not identical, west marine carries vents that are almost an exact fit. I had the same vents you've got on my 160 and they were both in bad condition, one damaged. I replaced them with the ones I picked up from west marine. Holes are in different locations so I filled the old holes with resin and fiberglass cut mesh and threw a bit of a fiberglass backing to them. Then just re-drilled my holes and used new stainless screws.

I have just purchased an 87 Sorrento sxl-23. I am going to have to do a complete overhaul on the interior as you did. Please let me know how to redo the floor, rebuild the wood seat supports, rebuild the engine cover/sun deck, and any other tips would be greatly appreciated. Basically I have to redo the whole inside. The engine and out drive and everything mechanically works perfectly.
