Need input about the Keys

We'll probably cruise from Marco Island to the ICW just West of Marathon, or directly to Key West, depending on sea conditions. We'll be down in the Keys for about 10 days or so. We have access to military bases, so, I'm thinking we'll get most of our gas at Sigsby. We may stay at Boca Chica Marina for a few days. Also, we'd like to stay at a marina near downtown Key West for at least a couple of nights. On the way back, we're going to take our time and visit lots of areas.

Where should we go? Where should we stay? Where should we anchor out? Where should we avoid? What routes do you recommend?
