I have a 2008 52’ Sedan Bridge. My sliding door was not working properly (Opening/Closing/ locking/etc). I decided to change all the hardware completely. I managed to find the rollers (Which was a little hard to find), changed the handle and lock (Schwepper is the brand). But there is a Rod inside the frame of the door that I can’t find anywhere, I just email Schwepper asking if that was something the sell since I don’t see it in their catalog.

Does anyone have an idea where to find it? I’ve looked everywhere and can’t find it. Pics are attached

Please Helppp

That's probably the rod that latches the door in the open position. No idea where to get it but doubt it needs replaced unless the threads are messed up.

As said above, it is the rod that holds the door in the open position so it doesn't slide. Reuse it.

Yes that is exactly what it is, i’m trying to reuse it, but the threads at messed up/bent in that area (Thread area). Original parts are also missing, since what ever screws in the top was replaced apparently (if someone can take a picture of what it should look like would help) and does not fit the gap to actually keep the door open.

It would be nice to just replace it if I can find it. Schwepper answered the email and said they’ve never seen that before, so I guess some other manufacturer made it.

I kind of invented something, not sure yet if it will work tho.

Run a thread die on it and clean up the threads
It’s also bent in the thread section and missing what screws on as well.

I hope what I did works, all tho the plastic top should be a SS Threaded coupling or something like it (No idea what it looked like originally).

Let us know how it works out and don’t force it

Schwepper will have made the latch, locking cylinder, handles, etc... and their U.S. Distributor is The Brass Works, Inc. You might get some useful info from them.

But... the rest of our door itself was made by (or for) TaylorMade, and that may have included the framing, trucks (rollers), glass, etc... maybe the rod... or some subset of that with some help from outside suppliers. TaylorMade can answer questions about their stuff, and may be able to help you pin down what's what.

OTOH, I know a replacement lockset from TaylorMade might cost in the neighborhood of $2200, whereas the individual lockset parts from The Brass Works Inc might add up to a few hundred... and the rest of the door materials might be like that too.

FWIW, our door (different boat model) doesn't have that rod. Can't tell whether it might have had it at one time or another...

Thanks for the help Chris, I will try and contact TaylorMade and see if they can further help me out. I contacted a Sea Ray rep that helped me find the new lock, which was $700 +/-. He will get back to me.

I'll try to get a pic tomorrow or Friday. If I recall, there is just a fitting threaded on the endo to catch a stopper when the door is open so it doesn't slide while the boat is rocking.

Thank youuu, I figured it had to be something like that. But just wanted to see the shape and type of material so I can try to recreate it as good as posible.

Thanks

The rod has come up a few times in the 58DB thread, and now here... and we don't have one...

So I just asked TayorMade if they could supply detailed assembly drawings for the door and the frame... no joy.

"... since we no longer producing this assembly and it's not active in our system, we do not have any drawings at this time."

But if you force it, and it breaks, then it needed replacement anyway!

Here is the pick. IIRC it is a brass "stopper" threaded on that rod. M
