I can't figure out how to use this thing. It's labeled as a Potpourri model 707. The boat has a holding tank and the head seems to be connnected to that, but how do you get fresh water in the bowl? There is no hose going to the water tank. Also, on this one, as you are standing in front of the toilet, on the left hand side in the back, there is a pump. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

Most of the time you just lift the lid and well.....

Just kidding! If you look near the back of the toilet there should be two hoses. A large hose that carries stuff outbound to the holding tank. There should be a smaller hose that is connected to a seacock that pulls water from whatever you are floating in. Trace the smaller hose and you should find the seacock under the aft cabin or in the engine compartment. Make sure that is open. On the toilet, you should also see a valve, dial or lever that has two positions. One for "flush" and one for "fill" so you can remove the contents of the toilet or fill it with fresh water. If the toilet is old, it may need a rebuild and may not have the horsepower to pull water from the seacock. Unless you have a special valve, you don't want your toilet connected to your freshwater tank to keep the germs from infecting your freshwater side.

Have the same toilet on my Searay and need to find out who the manufacturer is so I can get a parts breakdown. Just got the boat and haven't tried to use it .Does the pump hold the water and transfer it to the bowl? This unit has been connected to a water container back in the engine area to hold the water not sure how the water is transfered from the container to toilet, there is what looks like a pump there but no switch to turn it on in the head, some type of instructions would be great. I hate it when people jerry rig stuff. Thanks.

Nice to know there is another Searay boater in the area! Here in belair also!.

One heads-up on these seawater-fed toilets. We had one on our 24 Regal. When the boat sits for a while (toilet unused), especially in hot weather, the seawater trapped in the line (after the seacock and prior to hitting the throne) will fester and grow bacteria. That first flush can be a lulu. You will be convinced your holding tank is backflushing into the cabin or your Uncle Leo dropped one when you weren't looking. At least that's what happened with ours. takes a couple flushes and an open porthole to get back to normal.

I have a fresh water flush JABSCO manual head, no odors from raw water that way.
