73 SRV with Merc 888.
After working good all day the shifter got stuck in forward on the way back to the boat ramp. I took the cable loose where it connects the the engine and the pivot moves easily. The throttle moves fine too. It seems that something in the shifter control that is binding keeping it from returning to neutral.
It looks like the shifter has to be in neutral to get to the set screw that holds the handle on. I have no clue what to do.
If it is the control box/cable is bad i have to take the handle off to remove the control box, but it has to be in neutral to remove the handle but its stuck in forward??? What do i do????
