I have a 2001 260 SeaRay Sundancer and need help on where to run the wire to cockpit GPS. I am mounting the transducer to the right of the bilge pump up from the keel. Could someone help to show where to run the cable? Some video or pictures would be very helpful.

You need to follow the path of the other wires that run to the helm. In the 250 DA that is through a hole in the upper, starboard side in the forward part of the engine compartment. From there they run behind the throttle and you can grab the cable by removing the speaker, reaching back and pulling it through. From the same speaker opening you can feel where the wires go behind the helm and push the cable through the hole. From the opening in the head you can see the cable connector and pull it through. That is how it is in the 250 and I suspect the process on the 260 is identical.

Don't declare victory until you peer into the engine compartment to confirm that the cable hasn't wrapped itself around the alternator and the macerater while you were pulling it through. You might guess how I know to warn you about that.

Appreciate your help!! Terminating the cable in the GPS on top of dash, why do I have to go through the head? I also have to fish cable for a radio sub which is on the port side and I'm stumped as to where to begin, if you or anyone else can help I would appreciate it.

How will you get the connector to the top of the dash if you don't push it up from underneath? The harness for my Garmin 740s goes through a hole in the dash and the transducer connection is made under the dash.

Follow the wiring that goes into the cabin. In the 250 DA you have to remove the port side wall panel in the aft cabin to run to the stereo. My sub is on the starboard side but the speaker wire runs to the port side.

Just adding some specifics to the good advice above...

On your boat, Boat Boy, follow the steering cable. It will go into a hole in the upper, starboard side of the forward bilge wall (between the bilge and the mid cabin). It's above the vacuum tank and you'll see a whole bunch of yellowish silicone there. Just push through that. Next, you will go behind the false wall of the undersink storage (there are two false walls, located aft and starboard). Next, pull the storage cubby (you can also remove the speaker, but I don't recall that being necessary) that's by your feet at the helm. Next, remove the instrument panel. Depending on how experienced you are with fishing and what type of fishing tools you have, you may not have to do every single one of these removals. But, removing everything I mentioned "can" be done in about 20 minutes. There's no access from the head in the '99-'04 260DA.

For the radio sub, you can try to go from starboard to port (above the head and inside that removable ceiling, but that's pretty tough. Actually, you would go in front of the head (above the hanging locker) and then inside the ceiling. I would, instead, go from the bilge, through the silicone in upper, port side of the forward bilge and then behind the mid-cabin mirror. Using my name as a qualifier, search for threads that I've "started" with some keywords. I posted some pictures about adding a chase behind the mirror and that might help you simply run a wire.

Good advice from Dennis as usual. No storage box on a 95 250 DA so the speaker hole is the only way to traverse the distance between the helm and the engine compartment. I use the access panel in the head so often it is hard to imagine how the electrical is accessed on the later model 260.

Thanks Dennis and everyone. Its my first boat, I don't have a speaker on the floor and how do I get behind the mid cabin mirror? If you have any pictures posted for my 2001 260DA, please post a link. Thank you all!!

Please re-read my post regarding the speaker and finding the link.
