I have this on my 1997 270DA. I am getting mobilized to mount my dinghy and am wondering if I can buy missing parts for this mounting rather than go to something like weavers (sorry about the upside down - Tried several attempts to post upright but no joy).

However, I have no idea what this mount is associated with. PO installed and I bought the boat from a broker who didnt (or more likely wouldnt ask) have any info on it. It may actually be custom. Wondering if any of you can shed some light on manufacturer of this? so I can buy undermount brackets to go with?. Otherwise, I think I can make aluminum extensions to mount under platform that extend out beyond to mount dinghy.

Not sure I want that much sticking out stern beyond platform but I may fabricate something similar to these. Wouldnt be drop away like these would simply be straight out and removable.

The first two pics are yours, while the davit pic is off the internet?

What's on your platform looks to be something, if I had to guess, that someone installed to repair a soft/rotten platform core rather than get into replacing the core.

Yea, I dont think is a core repair because from the inside there's no indication of repair. It looks virgin new. Sort of the cleanest bilge I have ever seen too. It could be but just doesnt feel like it. I may remove to confirm at some point though. Yes, the first two are my boat transom. The other is a typical swing davit system off the internet that I can make work. the maker of this mount has a similar plate system to whats on my boat. Just not a solid SS plate like I have. Only those brackets like you see under my transom. Which again, if it were to repair soft swim platform, you wouldnt need those PVC blocks under the platform. I am pretty sure this is a left over from a dinghy mount system. Just dont know what kind. If you go look at this video, it sort of looks like an earlier version of what they are showing here:
just with a reinforcing plate on top.

I had a set of the extended undermount davits on my last boat. They worked great, and I plan to add another set to my current boat.

However, what's on your boat does not match up with how the extended undermount system is installed.

It could just be the way your pictures are showing up, but the only hardware I see is the hardware that is being used to sandwich the platform. I don't see any available hardware or holes that would be used for mounting something else. The pictures are at an odd angle so it's hard to see - maybe I'm missing something?

Yea, I know the forum wont let me rotate the photos upright. If you look though at the upper Stainless surface, you can tell there was another plate around those bolt heads on each side-the stainless in between the bolt heads is shinny whereas outside is weathered more. It had to have been some kind of custom davit. The other thing too, if you look between the two sets of head bolts on the top (separated by 42 inches) there is a rectangular square (say 30 inch by 10 inch between) that is also less weathered. Seems maybe like a name plate or something was in that position too.

Two of the fasteners have hex heads, while the rest have slotted. All of the fasteners go through the platform. There also appears to be a few screws (aft center, fwd corners) for keeping the plate against the platform. Given the condition of the fasteners on the underside, and their length - it doesn't look like they would be removable so something else could be installed.

Maybe there was some type of frame/assembly that went upwards for towing ski/wake/tube? PO took frame down and left enough to cover holes?

My other thought was a plank for boarding, and it would run against the metal instead of the platform - but way too many fasteners for that.

Yep. Good thoughts. I was thinking, as I am associated with Marine Mapping in a distant way, may have been a mount for some kind of towed array too. Our survey boats have lots of goofey setups using things like this. I may eventually try to track down PO if I cant figure it out. Then again, I know I can fabricate under platform tubes to mount using those PVC blocks and aluminum square stock to extend out past the platform for the Dinghy mount show above. I guess Ill just get too it. Ill post photos as I move through the process .
