I need to replace Cat 3126 Heat xchanger cap part # 103-5822. Does anyone have one or knows where I can find one, hopefully with O rings and gasket (I think it needs a gasket).

Thanks,

Jeff

Jeff, did you try a radiator shop? They may have something with a different name on but of the same size and pressure rating that will work.
Cap-A-Radiator on Fulton Street (opposite Dunkin Donuts) in Farmingdale may be worth stopping in to on your way to the boat. It's not too far from your marina. The owner is a good guy and if you bring it to match up he may have something you can use, or be able to order you something, or point you in the right direction.

This isn't a radiator type part. It is the entire end cap for the heat exchanger.

Jeff.....as much as you would like to avoid it, I am sure this and the o-ring kit are going to be Caterpillar parts.

Frank,

I did the JB Weld repair today. It says 24 hours to cure, so I won't be able to test until tomorrow afternoon. Hoping for a good temporary outcome - will let you know.

I will be calling HO Penn, my local Cat dealer on Monday am.

Also, I have a call into Lenco Coolers, a local company that manufactures and distrubutes replacement marine heat exchangers. A local marine store has used them and speaks highly of them.

Jeff

Sorry, thought he was talking about the cap on top.

Frank,

I ran boat for a couple hours last night and the JB Weld repair held up perfectly.

Once again, you saved the day, or in this case our July 4th weekend.

If I cant find a replacement cap, I may have the hole welded shut permanently and live with 2 zincs in the heat excahager. I have a feeling 3 zincs may be over kill.

I figure I will change them at the beginning and end of every season.

Jeff

I had end caps made from orca. I sent them the dimensions and they fanned it.

Spoke to Orca and they can't or won't make it. Thanks for the lead anyway.

Have you asked the guys at Lenco? They are in amityville/farmingdale area I bought new heat exchangers from them.
