I have found a very nice 1989 Sea ray 440 convertible twin 454 Crusaders 1 thousand hours with Gen set boat is in very good shape sitting under cover since new freshwater lake here in Texas very interested in the boat I am concerned about getting access two motors drives generator etc. if something major were to go wrong anyone have any personal knowledge about how I motor head or such would come out of a boat with such a small cramped space please give info would be appreciated I have had sad day 31 foot vanguard Sport fish, 32 foot pacemaker flybridge, 38 foot uniflite sport fish all freshwater boats all gave me good use our current 1990 39 foot main ship express is too small for a family of five need more space desperately please help

I have run a 440CV a bunch, but the 2 I have experience with were both Caterpillar 3208 powered. They were stern heavy and needed more power. I suspect the 7.4L gas powered version is even worse, but on a closed lake, I don't guess speed is that important. As far as issues go, getting an engine out might be a challenge, but you generally disassemble the salon and remove the furniture to get access to the floor and hatches. These boats were great, but the 2 I am familiar with were plagued with cabin leaks from the bridge area and electrical gremlins. So, get a good survey on both the hull and the mechanicals.
