Need Diesel Mechanic in Clewiston, Okeechobee

Port engine (Cat 3126TA) died, looks like it is electrical but beyond my new knowledge (new owner, first cruise - 2000 miles Florida to Canada). Caterpillar mechanics can't get here for a week. Anyone have some local knowledge that can help directly or know of someone, please?

Your engines are mechanical diesels. About the only electrical cause for one dying is the fuel supply solenoid which is located on the end of the fuel pump nearest the flywheel. Try tapping on it and if the plunger is stuck, that might free it. The solenoid is an easy part to change, but...... you need the right solenoid and you also need a pin wrench that fits up in the space around the base of the solenoid. THis is not a fix that requires a Cat technician. A general diesel mechanic can do it, but he needs the right tool and part so be sure to fully describe the problem to him when you find one.

I Googled diesel repair in Clewiston and only one company that looks promising came up:

They apparently have several stores or shops in the area and if your fuel supply solenoid is bad, they have seen it before on 3116 or 3126 truck engines.

Try On-Site-Diesel, Jim. (239) 671-3025. He is located out of Fort Myers. He correctly diagnosed the problem with my diesel engines which turned out to be a prop out of pitch. Not sure if he goes that far but worth a shot.

Thanks folks. Pantropic were able to spring a guy from Ft Myers - just left 5 mins ago. Turned out to be a relay in the electrical box. Steve Miley correctly diagnosed this and described the relay to change with the starboard engine. I did that without effect because it turned out to the wrong relay I switched! Back underway tomorrow. Thanks all, again.

PS I did buy a spare relay!
