Hello fellow SR boaters.... I have the Raymarine 230 VHF radio on my boat.

Weather has caused the cable that is connected between the handset and handset cradle to become brittle - it's actually started cracking and insulation is coming off.

(I'm referring to the "coiled" wire that goes from the bottom of the handset to the cradle)

I've searched the internet to death and all I can find is the "2nd station Kit" for $170. This will give me a new cradle; handset; and speaker.

I'd rather simply replace the cable....

Any thoughts?

Thanks,
-Ryan

Ryan,

Can't help with the part you are seeking, but can offer some advice; pay the $170 bucks!

We have a Ray 210 that is mounted in the center of the helm. The mic cord went bad this summer. Because it is flush mounted, replacing the radio became a bigger task than it was worth. I opted to send the radio to Ray for repair. $ 265 later it is fixed. Don't misunderstand my point. I happily paid the $265 because it is an excellent radio that worked but for the bad connector, and replacing it would have been a huge pain in the butt.
