We replaced ours...it is soft white vinyl underneath with white mesh and navy sunbrella cover. A lot of the time the kids put a towel over the cover rather than the hassle of taking it off....We leave it on all summer with no issues... new pad and cover was $750.00

Dani lu never stated whether his is fixed or adjustable so $1800 for fixed pads is very high otherwise it’s probably the going rate for adjustable.

That's why I tryt to refrain from commenting on quotes without all the details. Sometimes there are details or special requests like this that may justify it. Take for instance if someone gave me a cushion to redo it would be a completely different price if it was dropped off to duplicate or I had to go out to the boat to template for a custom fit design.

Kevin, good point on needing to know the details before discussing price. Here are the details: I did not give him a timeframe. I asked for a price, based on a direct replacement of my vinyl sun pads, made with sunbrella, dryfast and I asked him to add a pillow bump (maybe this bump is where the xtra $800 to a grand is coming from :) ).

I have the slide in metal track like Havana Shamrock describes, and 4 snaps in each corner of each pad. My boat currently has 3 year old black canvas, but now that I am in Florida, I was going with a light color tan/beige Sunbrella for the sun pads. The whole point of me going with Sunbrella, was so I could leave them out, not have to stow them, and no need for a cover. Yes, I am getting lazy.

Being an OCD lunatic like the rest of my fellow boaters, I am concerned about how the light colored canvas sun pads will look, with the rest of my boat covered in black canvas, but I was going to put this first world problem on a back burner for now.

Having done canvas and upholstery on this boat 3 years ago, I thought I had a good feel for cost, on this replacement job. And, now that I am in a 12 month marketplace, I was hoping the prices would be lower than, Long Island, NY.

With all that said, I was expecting a quote somewhere between $750 and a grand.

Had the quote been reasonable, I was then going to ask how much additional to make the pads reclinable, like Havana has.

Based on this thread’s feed back so far (i.e. Havana, Blueone), it sounds like my price assumption, was right on the money, no pun intended.

I hope this verbose explanation make this price issue more transparent.

I wanted the bump as well... I wish I had a better pic... My pad is three separate cushion...split port to starboard and velcro'd together and secured in a track at the bow along with buttons..The third cushion up by the windshield is not as tall ...it is maybe 18" from bow to stern and about 1-1/2" thicker then the other two ...giving the bump or pillow. It helps and it seemed like an economical way of doing it.. The blue cover holds the whole thing down when traveling.... All in all it fits the purpose

A lot of the price is going to come from the fabrication time. My single sunpad is two attached panels (split across the length) that allow for it to be easily folded in the middle to store. The fabrication time for this is more like making two panels rather than one since you would have to box out two individual cushions and add two access zippers, etc. In this case the fabrication time would be almost double constructing it as a single piece - the additional materials are nominal so its the shop time that would drive this. I also do not have a headrest pillow bumb either - if that was constructed and attached it would have added additional fabrication time.

Kevin, not sure where you are going? Havana Shamrock got what I want done, plus the reclining feature for $1,400 and an additional $400 for the cover. And Blueone got what I want done for $750, including a cover.

My $1,800 quote is highway robbery, period.

I'm in Newburyport MA and looking for a custom sun pad as well preferably with the reclining feature and Sunbrella Graphite color with cover. Is there someone in my area can get me this?

Similar to what http://gioiasails.com/home/ did for Bella Vita?

    Much appreciated

A new bow pad for a 420DA, made from scratch, with premium materials, properly secured, with a Sunbrella cover for $750? Somebody is working really cheap doing marine canvas and upholstery. Hell, annual buff and wax for a 420 is probably over a grand.

Ours is Sunbrella and matches the rest of our canvas. Boat stays in a covered slip so it comes off during winter storage. We wil throw a towel over it during use this summer. 1E3D6707-12E5-4B38-82A7-578D87930BB9.jpeg
