For those of you who can get to your 290, or are maybe berthed next to a 290, I need a little information:

I need the width and usable height (from the latches to the upper vertical surface) of the rear hatch above the swim platform, as shown in this pic:

I need to order my new boat name and graphics, and I neglected to get the measurement when we were out at the boat last time. Since it's now 600 miles away, it may have to wait until spring, unless someone on the board can get me the measurements.

If there is anyone who can get me the information, THANKS in advance! Kurt

The new boat name is "Petry's Pet". In 1954 my Grandfather bought a new Chris Craft, and he named it Petry's Pet. He was a tool and die maker at Delco Remy, and he handmade the letters out of brass, and then had them chrome plated in the shop by one of his apprentices. After he sold the boat in the 70's, he saved the sign, and it hung in the lake cottage for decades. I have it now, and it hangs in my workshop. Never considered naming my boat anything else!

Sounds like you may have gotten your dimensions, but if not, I found the bill for my lettering and it was 34 x 9. The name just about fills all the usable space.

Shoot... your boat is in Maryland, correct? PM me the location and your home address. I'll drive by your boat with a screwdriver and Fed Ex the hatch to you...
