I have the Navman 5500 in my 250 slx. It was on the boat when I bought it off the lot. Although the factory installed it, it is not considered "standard equipment" on the 2006 250.

Anyway, although I probably would not have considered a navigation unit had it not already been there, I have really grown to like this thing, especially for navigating at night. The 5500 has the ability to provide additional information if the optional sensors are installed. Now a lot if this additional information would be a duplication of what is provided via the smartcraft, but the big LCD on the 5500 would sure make it more accessable. And a lot of the display pages on the 5500 contain lot's of "zero's" since the sensors are not there.

So I am curious, I know in 2006 the navman 5500 came standard on the 270 slx. But did searay install any of the navman sensors (since the unit is standard on this boat)? Also, has anyone installed the fuel pickup sensor on either the 270 or 250 and if so, is it a reasonable thing to do for the do-it-your-selfer?

Brunswick (the parent of Mercury and Searay) bought Navman. Since then they've been offering a gizmo to connect Smartcraft to their chartplotters and display the Smartcraft displays on the chartplotter.

The part is pretty pricey and I'm not sure if it works with an older 5500. You should check out Navman's website and ask them to be sure.

My 2006 260DA came with the Navman 5500 as well. Sea Ray did not supply any additional sensors on my boat either. While I like the information on Smartcraft, I dislike the fact you can only display two functions at once. I would like to see the information displayed on my Navman as well. It's about as close as you can come to the "System View" Smartcraft Option available on the bigger boats.

BTW, my 5500 broke on me last week and since they don't make the 5500 anymore it was replaced with a 5505 under warranty. I don't see much of a functional difference between the two models and I believe all the optional hookups are the same as well.

Navman 5500

I have a Navman on my 2005 200 Sundeck. Everything was hooked up but the fuel sensor. Great unit with the C-map installed. :smt038

I have a Navman 5500 on the 2006 270 I just purchased. I don't seem to be able to get a GPS fix, the screen just hangs on "acquiring". Any ideas
