I have the Navman 5500 in my 250 slx. It was on the boat when I bought it off the lot. Although the factory installed it, it is not considered "standard equipment" on the 2006 250.
Anyway, although I probably would not have considered a navigation unit had it not already been there, I have really grown to like this thing, especially for navigating at night. The 5500 has the ability to provide additional information if the optional sensors are installed. Now a lot if this additional information would be a duplication of what is provided via the smartcraft, but the big LCD on the 5500 would sure make it more accessable. And a lot of the display pages on the 5500 contain lot's of "zero's" since the sensors are not there.
So I am curious, I know in 2006 the navman 5500 came standard on the 270 slx. But did searay install any of the navman sensors (since the unit is standard on this boat)? Also, has anyone installed the fuel pickup sensor on either the 270 or 250 and if so, is it a reasonable thing to do for the do-it-your-selfer?
