Navionics 1xg cf cards

Anyone have any comments good or bad? they are suposed to cover the entire USA. I am concerned about the detail.

Replaced my 4 year old card with one of these recently. Stop worrying, the card has the same amount of detail, if not more. The cards are much, much, bigger, they didn't reduce detail.

The one caution is that older versions of the RayMarine firmware wont' work with the bigger cards. Upgrade your chartplotter to the latest firmware before trying to use the newer card. Download from the RayMarine site.

One tip on the firmware update. If you do it yourself, which is pretty easy to do, make sure the CF you put the upgrade files on is small enough to be read by the current firmware. My Northstar wouldn't read a 1GB CF because of the firmware limits. I had to find a 128MB CF off of Amazon to put the upgrade files on. They are really cheap ($19), but nobody stocks them in the brick and mortar stores any longer.

$20 and 20 minutes and it was ready to read the new maps and they look great!
