Looking to upgrade from a Raymarine SL70 c to a new Raymarine ES 97. If you have done this, let know what it might take. Thank you.

I am in the process of replacing my sl70rc and radar. Went with the new Raymarine Axiom MFD with RealVision (although not installing RV transducers yet) and Navionics that looks real nice. Check out some of the videos online.

If you are upgrading the radar too you can get the Quantum chirp radar and qualify for a $500 rebate if purchased by 12/15. (sorry for the short notice)

Give BOE Marine a call and they can help you out.

Does your boat have smart craft?

It would appear at first glance that Axiom does nor have engine monitoring. Is that correct?

The Axiom will show engine data acquired via the NEMA2000 (N2K) interface. All new Axioms seem to come with N2K as opposed to the SeaTalkNG (which was their version of N2K).

Smartcraft data from the engine will need to be translated to N2K via a gateway. It plugs into the Smartcraft port and then into the N2K. Once that is connected you should be able to select the engine data to display.

Here is some more info on interface engine data:

Yes, I have smartcraft gauges.

It does not appear that I do. The Ray Marine dealer is coming down to the boat to look at it in the morning. He said it may be possible that our boat cannot be upgraded.

If your engine has smartcraft but does not have smartcraft guages it may be necessary to add the cabling harnesses. If Smartcraft cannot be added there may be other options available if you want engine data. Fox Marine has some gateways available.

Thank you. You have been very helpful!
Turns out that I do have CAN bus, so the dealer is researching if the Gateway will work. With that config, do you know if I would get fuel burn? Thx.

That's good. You might just need the harnesses. You should get the smartcraft calculated fuel rate and fuel used. I am told this is different than an actual fuel flow meter that you would install inline. I also know the fuel data from smartcraft does not include fuel used by then generator.

I am not sure if the smartcraft needs to be configured if it has never been used. I know engines have to be assigned to engine numbers.

Also if you go with axiom and quantum make sure the invoices are dated today to get the rebate.
