Narrows Frozen Again

I spoke with the marina yesterday, besides the marina basin froze over, so is the Narrow. She said the ice breaker has already made two passes this week. She also mentioned that portions of the bay are iced over. Seems worse than last year. Fortunately the ice eaters are working at the Lady:smt038

Good job on having the Ice Eaters installed. They do a great job of keeping areas free of ice.

1977 was the last time the bay froze over, I was a senior in HS partying my azz off

Every waterway in Maryland froze over during the coldest period of the winter of 1977. Crowds of people went out onto the ice near the Bay Bridge. Others, playing a game of "ice roulette," drove their cars and pickup trucks onto the ice. Three of the cars fell in, but everyone was rescued.

I tried that stunt in 1971 on Presque Bay in Erie when I was Gannon. Kissed the ground when we made it across, few scary moments though. Crazy what beer and weed does with your brain!!

That was a long time ago. Wow 38 years ago! I actually remember this. The 70 s were a very cold decade!
